Maya's POV

I avoid Josh at all costs for the rest of the week. It's not that hard, the hardest part was avoiding Riley's house since it was basically my own but I didn't want to see him. Of course today I had no choice. It's Monday morning and whether I liked it or not Josh was tutoring me today.

"Baby girl you look upset" my mom says as she walks into the kitchen, finding me deep in thought as I eat my cereal.

"I'm fine" I lie as I finish off my breakfast before placing my bowl in the sink. "I'm gonna get going, I don't wanna be late" I add as I grab my backpack and head towards the door.

"Oh okay" my mom replies. "Have a good day" she adds sweetly as I shoot her a polite smile and bolt out the door.

Josh's POV

For the first time ever I'm actually excited to go to school today, of course this is brought down a notch when I spot Maya down the hall looking frazzled and annoyed as she slams her locker shut.

I was more than positive that she was pissed about this little arrangement I had set up.

"Hey baby" I hear from behind me making me close my eyes as I try to compose myself before turning around.

"Beth" I fake smile as I turn to face her. I had realized she was the blonde from the pictures. I was glad I at least remembered her name, now if only I remembered if we really hooked up or not. I knew we didn't have sex because well there was only one girl who that had happened with and I vowed to wait after things with Bridget blew up.

"You didn't call" she points out disappointedly.

"Um yea" I say awkwardly as I rub my neck. "I'm sorry. I kinda lost your number" I add because honestly I did lose her number, I wouldn't have used it even if I did still have it but at least it was enough to get me out of this awkward conversation.

"I put it in your phone" she points out making me curse in my head. Of course technology screws me over.

"Oh my god" I hear from behind me, finding Maya standing there annoyed. "Sweetheart he's not into you. He got what he wanted and now he doesn't give a shit about you" she shouts making my eyes widen.

"Is that true?" Beth asks sadly making me sigh.

"I'm really sorry" I say quickly but she only shakes her head and walks off.

"What the fuck Maya?" I shout as I turn around to face her.

"Save it" she replies snippily. "And now that I have your attention what the hell is with you being my tutor?"

Maya's POV

I don't know why I decided to stick around and listen to Josh try and wiggle himself out of this situation but I have to admit it's entertaining. Of course I eventually have enough and put the girl out her misery so that I can take a turn at getting some answers.

"I'm waiting" I say annoyed as I look at him expectantly.

"I heard you were struggling in algebra" he replies making me scoff.

"How much did you have to beg Riles to get that little tidbit of information?" I ask annoyed as I glance up at the clock, noticing we only have two more minutes until class starts. "Better yet how the hell did you even set all this up?"

"I'm a liar Maya. Lying is what I do best" he smirks as he crosses his arms over his chest.

"What does that even mean?" I ask in frustration as the bell rings.
