31. Busted and Forgiveness

Maya's POV

When I get to school on Monday I know exactly what I'm going to do but first there was one other thing I needed to get done. "Mike" I smile as I walk up to him before the first bell rings.

"Beautiful" he smiles making my skin crawl. "What's up?"

"Hey" I hear over my shoulder as Bridget walks down the hallway towards us. Mike's eyes pop out of his head as his eyes lock on her.

"What are you doing here?" I ask her as she makes her way over to us.

"Josh is taking me out today" she says softly, "after I talk to you" she adds as she stares intently at Mike. I look up at her in shock as Josh comes up to our group.

"The counselor wants to see you" he says to me. I know he's lying, he wants to get me away from them. I smile and say goodbye to Bridget and Mike before following Josh down the hall.

"What was that about?"

"I don't know" Josh admits, "she called me yesterday night and told me she changed her mind, that she wanted to tell Mike."

"Wow" I reply in shock, "I wonder what changed."

"A woman is a mysterious creature, I'm not even going to begin to understand it" he says making me chuckle. "So, what's up with you?" he asks as he grabs my hand but I quickly wiggle out of his grasp.

"You'll see" I smile happily as I kiss his cheek.

"I'll see?"

"Mhm" I hum, "I'll see you in tutoring" I call over my shoulder before rushing down the hallway.

Josh's POV

I'm sitting in the library waiting for Maya to show up for tutoring but she's ten minutes late and I'm starting to get a little worried.

"Mike Edwards to the main office" I hear over the speaker, catching my attention.

What the hell was Maya up to?

Maya's POV

I walk into the main office and take a deep breath as I walk up to the receptionist. "Hello Miss Hunter, what can I do for you today?" she asks brightly.

"I need to speak to Principal Reynolds" I explain as the receptionist looks at me intrigued.

"And why would you need to do that?"

"It's concerning some inappropriate pictures" I explain as the receptionist's eyes widen.

She clears her throat, clearly uncomfortable as she raises her finger to me. "One moment" she says as I nod, balancing on my heels while the principal is called. After about three minutes the tall brunette woman comes out of her office with a bright smile on her face.

"Come in" she says as she ushers me inside. "Now before we begin, you must realize that this is a very serious topic we are discussing."

"I know" I nod.

"And any accusations made are large, illegal ones."

"I'm aware" I reply as she nods her head, motioning with her hands that I can begin. I take a deep breath before diving into my story. "A few months ago I entered into a romantic relationship with my math tutor, Joshua Matthews" I start, laying the cards on the table. They'd find out that it was Josh I was dating when they saw the pictures and he wasn't technically my tutor anymore. "His friend who relied on him to help him get girls didn't appreciate the fact that Josh and I were getting serious. Josh has a friend who goes to NYU who held a party on Halloween that he and I attended. During the party the two of us went upstairs and one thing led to another. Though we were interrupted when we heard someone taking pictures of us. We confronted the person and found out it was Mike Edwards."
