"Ms. Maine, uso naman siguro sumagot sa text." (ctto RFJ)
Maine was doodling again on her notebook when the door of the meeting room opened and Richard came in. Her problem forgotten, she became conscious of her reactions. Siya na ang hindi makatingin ngayon. Blame it on Ate Kai, her words keeps reverberating in her mind.
'Teh, promise! Puwedeng candidate yang si Tisoy. Lagi kang nakangiti pag nababanggit eh.'
"Sorry if I forgot to reply but thank you for sending the shopping list for the emergency kit. Kumusta yung injury mo?"
Itinaas niya ang kamay na may band-aid. "Okay na, gagaling na, kinumusta mo na eh. Teka, may problema ka ba?"
He sat directly across her which made her more conscious. She tried glancing up but looked down again as she saw the intent look in his eyes.
"Huh? Wala, wala!"
"Parang may problema ka eh. Sabihin mo lang baka may maitulong ako. Alam mo na, puwede ko namang dagdagan job description ko." Bakit hindi siya makatingin? May dumi ba ko sa mukha?
Can I really bring up the topic? Paano? Just get his opinion? She inhaled, gathering her courage. "Okay since you asked, I do have a question. Have you ever been in a situation that you can't get out of? Yung tipong you don't have a choice?"
"Hhmmm... sa akin kasi, we always have a choice. 'No choice' is still a choice. Pero seryoso, sino ba naglagay sa 'yo sa situation na sinasabi mo?"
"I guess I don't have anyone to blame but me. It was the only solution I could think of at the time."
(A/N: Sige Ms. Maine, make it more cryptic pa, kumukunot na noo niya)
"Yun naman pala eh. Kaya mo bang panindigan? Kung anuman yan?" Puwede bang ganito na lang tayo hanggang mamaya? Kahit clueless ako kung anong sinasabi mo? Okay na ko, basta kausap kita.
"Siguro, but I will need help." Her face reddened when she recalled what Ate Kai mentioned that she and her 'fiance' need to do in order to convince Joon-mo. Oh my!
"Basta, sabihin mo lang kung may maitutulong ako."
"You know I envy you. Parang wala kang problema."
His face became animated. "Ay naku, Ms. Maine, kanya-kanya lang tayo ng problema! Iba-ibang degree lang."
"Care to share?"
"Ganito na lang. Para sa solusyon ng problema ko ngayon, willing akong pasukin kahit anong matinong trabaho."

"Can you drop the Miss? Everybody just calls me Maine." She stopped doodling and dared to look at him in the eyes.
"KUNG tatawagin mo rin akong Richard. Alam mo ba na sa text mo pa lang ginamit ang pangalan ko? Di naman mahirap i-pronounce, diba? Try mo, paisa lang."
"Yes, Richard." She can feel her heart racing as she hold his gaze.
"Thank you Maine. See? Hindi mahirap diba?" Puwede bang malunod sa mata?
