Chapter 22

Deborah pov
Shawn help me pack my things.
He is taking me back to LA where my family are.
I do not know what happen to David, he just left without saying a thing, but I was the one that wanted him to get out of my sight so I am to blame.
"Are you ok?" Shawn asked after we pack my stuff.
"I just don't know if this is right" I said.
"Deborah, believe me this is what you want" Shawn said and I nodded.

Shawn open the door for me and I look behind me and look at the mansion for a second.
"It's time to go" Shawn said and I got in the car.
Shawn got in after me and the driver drove off.
"Where did David go? Do you know?" I ask Shawn but he didn't answer.
He just continue to mess with his phone.
I look out at the window and thought I saw David staring at me through the one of his mansion window.
45 minutes later we have reach where Shawn has his plane.
"Are you ready?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah" I mumble and got in.

David pov
I look at the bed, where Deborah use to sleep.
She has gone with Shawn now.
I do not know if she ever wants to see me again.
If she doesn't, it means that we have to get a divorce.
"Sir, Nick is here to see you" one of my guard came barging in and said.
"Let him in" I said and go sit down on the couch that is in the room.
"Well hello brother" Nick said as soon as he walks in.
"Hello Nick, how have you been?" I ask.
"Pretty well, I heard that Shawn has taken Deborah" Nick said as he sits down by me.
"I let him" I said.
"That's a surprise, I would never thought that you would've let her go. She is our property after all" Nick said.
I look at my wedding ring.
She is still my wife and my responsibility, but she's a angel and I'm a beast.
It just doesn't work that way.
"David, you know you love her. You can't let her go to someone else that easily. You've gone this far. You've never gone this far with a woman. Why don't you just try to start over with her? Like slowly, make her fall for you and see a better person in you" Nick said.

Deborah pov
"Mom! Dad!" I shouted.
"Deborah!" My sisters ran down the stairs and hug me.
"When did you come back?" Donna ask.
"Just a few hours ago, Shawn went to get me" I said and look at Shawn who fell asleep on the couch.
"Where's mom and dad?" I asked.
Destiny and Donna look at each other with a sad face.
"You guys?" I asked.

I ran in the hospital.
"Deborah wait!" I heard Shawn shout but I didn't wait.
I ran to the room number that my sisters told me.
"Dad!" I shout as soon as I barge in the room.
"Deborah?" Mom asked as soon as she sees me.
"Mom!" I cried and pull her into a hug.
Destiny explained to me that dad got sick, so he is in the hospital.
His condition isn't that well, and he have to undergo surgery.
"We're so sorry, we tried to reach out to you but couldn't" my mom said.

"Are you ok?" Shawn asked.
"My life was filled with riches while my family are in a bad condition" I cried.
"It's not your fault, you didn't know" Shawn said and patted my shoulders.
"Now what am I suppose to do? Dad needs money for his surgery" I said.
"Hey, I'll help you" Shawn said and pull me into a hug.

David pov
5 days has pass since Deborah left.
I am back in LA for some work but I haven't seen her yet.
She didn't reach out to me so I'm guessing she's enjoying her free life.
"Sir, we have some news for you" John said.
"What is it?" I ask without looking at him.
"Your father in law is in the hospital"

Deborah pov
I put new fresh flower in the vase. Dahlia flower is my dad's favorite so I would change them each 3 days.
I have been taking care of dad, since my mom and sisters have to work.
Shawn would visit us sometime but he does have a lot of work so he doesn't stay for long.
I haven't heard from David, but it doesn't matter anymore.
I was thinking of sending him the ring but I feel like we should meet to talk about divorcing.
I just don't have the courage to meet him yet.
I don't know how long I have been thinking because the door open meaning that it's probably time for the nurse to feed dad.
"Hey nurse so what's for-" I didn't finish my question because I saw David standing in front of the door.
He must have found out about this.
I look at him not knowing what to do or say.
We just stare at each other. He looked like he is in pain to see me in pain.
To see my eyes with dark circle since I haven't gotten enough sleep.
To see that I look to be also sick.
"I'm guessing you came here to see dad" I said breaking the awkwardness.
"Yeah" his deep voice said.
"What happen?" He asked.
"Well I came back and heard that he is in the hospital" I explain.
David nodded and walk over to look at my dad.
"Have they gotten his surgery yet?" He asked.
"Yeah, Shawn paid for everything" I said, but then shut my mouth. It is probably the wrong time to tell him that Shawn has been a big help.
"Get the bill from the counter and pay it back to Shawn" David order his assistant that came with him.
"Look David it's fine" I said.
"When I married you, I promise to take care of your family, I cannot break that promise" he said.
I just stood there not knowing what to say or do.
We sat down on the chair that is in the hospital room.
David just stare at me while I sit down looking at the floor.
"You look sick too" he said and I shook my head.
"I'm fine" I said.
"You must eat more, you've lost weight, and you need to get more sleep" David said.
"David I'm fine, it's not your place to be taking care of me anymore" I said.
At that he grip his jaw tightly.
"I am still your husband don't forget that Deborah" he said.
"I-i-i have been thinking" I stuttered and force myself to look at him. "I want a divorce" I said.
He just looks at me with no emotion on his face.
He looks to be in very much pain.
How I wish I can just pull him into a hug right now, but I can't.
"Is that what you want?" He asked.
I slowly nodded.
I seriously don't even know if this is what I want.

I know that this man is a good person, but the way he force me into all of this will never get out of my mind.
I just wish it can be different.
"If you wish" he said.
"Son in law David!" My mom shout when she walks in.
David stood up and greeted my mom.
Mom hug him and cried on his shoulder.
" I am sorry" David whisper and whisper.
He feels guilty that he cannot take care of my dad like he has promise the day he put the wedding ring on me.

"You what!!!" My mom scream.
"I have decided to divorce him, and he agrees" I said.
"Deborah honey, I know you don't like David but he is your husband. I do not wish for you to have a lot of husband" mom said and I roll my eyes.
"Mom I'm not going to have a lot of husband, and I was force into this one so it doesn't count" I said.
My mom looks at me with guilt or sadness.
"Deborah, I want you to think this through. I know that David is a very good kind man. His reputation may not be one but at least we know he is" My mom said and left me thinking alone.

I look around my room and remember the first day when David was here.
I was trying to escape him.
I smile when I remember myself frighten.
I didn't know that a mafia like him would love a regular girl like me.
Dad wouldn't want me to escape. He would want me to solve the problem.
Even though I do hate him for forcing me to marry him, I did grow close to him.
I hate him that our baby died but he didn't get mad at me for not telling him.
It wouldn't have happen if I told him.
I just wish that things could've been different.
I wish he wasn't a mafia and we could be good.
We can be like other regular couple, and just have a normal life.
It's difficult though, that runs in the family, meaning that my child will have to be a mafia boss.
I don't want my kid having to work dangerously.

"Deborah?" Destiny walk in my room and sat down next to me.
"Are you ok?" She asked.
"Yeah" I lied and wipe the tears that was falling.
"I'm sorry that you have to go through this baby sister" Destiny said and pull me into a hug.
"I wish I could've taken your place. You were young, too young to be marry to a much older guy" she said.
"I just feel bad for my baby who died" I cried.
"But Deborah would he want you crying over something that you didn't mean to do?" Destiny asked.
I continue to cry and cry.
"Make good decision baby sister" Destiny said.

I walk in David's office and he was talking to some of his business partner.
"Your wife is here" one of them said after they notice me standing at the door.
David signal everyone to get out and I went to sit down in front of his desk.
"I got the divorce paper and everything ready" David said and slowly handed me the divorce paper.
I look at it not knowing if I want to do this or not.
"You just have to sign it now" he said.
I nodded and grab one of the pen that is lying on his desk.
"I'm sorry for everything that I have ever put you through, especially this marriage" he said.
I felt my tears rolling down.
"I wish things could've been different" I said. "I don't like how we started this way"

"And I'm sorry for that, I regret putting you through all of this. I just wanted you by myself" he said. "All I can say is, I'll always love you"

I stood up and hug him without realizing anything.
"I love you too" I said and I really mean it.
