Chapter 3

"Heard you fancy me," James spoke as he sat down across from Nora in the library, watching her head lift at the sound of his voice.

"Oh yeah, terribly," she nodded, tapping her pen that her father gave her onto the parchment in front of her, "why are you talking to me, James, thought I was too insufferable."

"Nora," James sighed, his voice hushed as he eyed the librarian, "I was just- I was angry, okay, frustrated, I didn't mean what I said, I didn't mean any of it, I'm, I'm, well, I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm, merlin I'm sorry!"

"Wow, that looked really hard for you, you alright?" she asked, her frown twitching into a smile as her head titled ever so slightly, "and I'm sorry too, no wait, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, s-s-s-sorry," she gasped jokingly, "that was hard."

"You're funny," he tutted, clearly unimpressed by her means, "but I don't apologise, consider yourself lucky."

"This is truly an honour," she sighed, feigning excitement as she clapped her hands, "the James Potter, the prank master, the king of Hogwarts, apologised to me?! How ever will I repay you!"

"Your sarcasm hurts," he frowned, shaking his head, "right in the heart, Nora, right here," he clutched his chest, watching the amused smile attack Nora's lips and he couldn't help but mimic it.

"Right, well," she coughed, averting her eyes from him and to her parchment, "as much as I am a top-notch student, obviously," she rolled her eyes, knowing fine well that that wasn't true, "I was actually planning how we could do this."

"You where?" he asked, picking himself off of the seat he sat in and rounding the table to the one beside her, leaning closer to her to read the parchment, "fight till death, merlin, Nora," he mumbled, reading over the notes she had written down.

"Not actual death," she scoffed, "just figurative."

"Have I mentioned that you're terrifying?" he asked, turning to stare at her whilst she kept her head firmly on the parchment.

"Maybe once or twice," she spoke, laughing softly as she moved the pieces of parchment, "sorry, I laughed, hope I'm not irritating you."

"Oh, shove off," he groaned, "I didn't mean it, really, Nora, I was just mad, is all."

"Why?"

"I don't know," he grumbled, "you have a way of frustrating me."

"Maybe it's a talent," she shrugged, a wide grin on her lips as she quickly stole a look at him, his eyes hidden behind his glasses under his messy hair that was more like a signature look for him. Nora knew of his father, she knew that Aubrey's mother used to use the hair potion he created, so it was a bit of a shock that James' hair was anything but styled, she couldn't deny that he suited it, though.

He doesn't suit anything, she thought, quickly turning her head to her parchment, "so we need to go to Hogsmeade soon," she sighed, "or half of these pranks are pointless."

"Well you could always tag along when I go with the boys," he offered, shrugging his shoulders.

"Hmm," her voice was squeaky, rather obvious that she wasn't so fond of the idea, "I don't know."

"Why not, they're cool," he protested, "come on, it'll be fun!"

"But what if Adria goes along, which is completely fine because Adria is lovely, but then she'll be with Sirius and they'll be coupley, so then maybe Lily and Caden will be like, oh can we come, and obviously Lily is best friends with both Adria and Remus, so they'd obviously be coming along, and then maybe Thea Jenkins will tag along because of Peter so then it would be all coupley and then us and that's just far too weird-"
