"Consolation"

I saw you walking on the street

With a melancholic face.

I followed as fast as I can with my feet

Without you seeing a single trace.

I caught up with you after five minutes

And saw tears falling from your eyes.

You told me your problems like it's infinite

About your friends and how they lied.

All I could do was just nod and stand.

Nothing I could say to even make you smile.

Your voice was weak and soft like sand.

Your movements were becoming senile.

You talked for ten minutes straight

Without giving me a single break.

Skies were dark; it was already late,

But you continued to cry out a lake.

For you, it seemed like it was the end.

For me, I couldn't see you slumped.

I pulled you up to fix your bend

And shared a story on how I was dumped.

We are both in a tough situation.

Life is tough; that's the truth.

I gave a pat of my consolation

And whispered, "I'm always here for you."
