I woke up freezing. Why is it so cold?

I tried to cuddle further under the blanket, but it didn't feel right. It wasn't fluffy or soft. I opened my eyes and came face to face with what I was hoping was a nightmare.

"Good morning beautiful," he whispered. He leaned forward and placed a light kiss on my cheek.

"What are you doing?" I asked moving away from him.

"Oh, sweetheart," he laughed. "That kiss is absolutely nothing compared to what's in store. The way I have it planned, you'll be back in  Blake's arms by the day after tomorrow. I haven't decided if I'll take his wedding night privilege away from you or not yet. You do look very pretty right about now, so it's a definite maybe."

I sat up and looked at him. He was being completely serious. He stood up and stretched. He had a beer belly, where Blake had kept a nice set of abs. His only visible scars were the ones on his back. Those were caused by him trying to touch me and getting caught.

He walked around to my side of the bed and I tried to scoot away, but felt his hands on my backside and immediately moved forward to get away. Only to fall right into his chest.

"Clumsy is cute," he laughed grabbing my arm and pulling me down the stairs with him.

A man sat on the couch with a pizza. He looked very muscular, like he belonged in a body builder commercial. He had a scar running across his throat.

"Well," he smiled at me. "Hello again, little tease."

I stepped back, but Chance just pulled me forward and up against him. He leaned closer to me and whispered, "be polite, or I'll let him have you. There will be no returning to Blake."

"Hello sir," I said glaring at Chance. He smirked and looked up at the other man. I was confused when he started to smile.

"Do you know why I brought you here?" Chance asked me calmly.

"If I knew that, I wouldn't have asked you where we were going or why you hated me." I continued to glare at him until I felt his fist make sudden contact with my stomach. I dropped to my knees for a moment trying to catch my breath. He knelt beside me and spoke very softly.

"I need to show something to Blake," he smiled as he spoke, slowly wrapping a hand around my throat. "He needs to understand."

"What did he ever do to you that you didn't deserve?" I spat at him.

I felt his hand tighten on my throat as he pushed me back onto the ground with all of the force he could manage. He held me there for a moment silently and I could feel everything going darker around me.

"You are a victim of kidnapping. Start acting like it." He spoke through gritted teeth. I nodded as best I could as the other man pulled Chance off of me.

"Okay, I didn't agree to murder, so watch your temper," the man said sternly to Chance.

I started to catch my breath, but everything felt odd. It was so light. I couldn't feel the ache in my stomach and I wasn't afraid. The oxygen running back through me felt cold and comfortable, like a drink of water. I watched the man argue with Chance, but I wasn't listening. I was listening to the sound of air running by my ears. It sounded like an ocean.

Chance turned back to me. He said something, but I didn't understand. He punched my stomach again and shouted.

"Get up!" He yelled. The other man grabbed his arm.

"Let her catch her breath man." He said. Chance shoved him off and went to the next room. The man came over and helped me onto the couch. "Okay, breathe. I didn't know all this would be happening to you darling."

"Leave her!" Chance shouted. "She's not yours yet!"

"You can't do all of this to her. You said we were just going to scare him."

"Look, I don't plan to kill her. I just need to show that man what it feels like to have something you love, ripped away from you. If I kill her, it's too easy. He'd know her suffering is over. If I just take her and bring her back, bruised and beaten, he will be afriad. He will want to protect her and he'll be so worried. Never knowing when or if I'll be back for her. It's perfect."

I didn't fully understand, but I got the drift. That's why when he turned to me and hit me across the face with his fist, it wasn't a surprise.
