What's the Hunter exam?

"Y/N GET DOWN FROM THERE, YOU'LL GET HURT!!" Screamed my big sister Grace with a mix of both fear and anger as I just happily sat on the tree branch of the big oak tree that was just at the entrance of our small village. "Jeez sis you don't need to be so loud "

 " Whatever!!, just get down from there it's almost dinner time and grandmother is waiting for you. " "Don't worry, tell her I'll be there in a minute " I said while climbing even higher into the tree so my sister wouldn't see me, it took her a while but she made an annoyed sigh and started to walk back home. It's not really my fault, all I really wanted was some alone time with the tree and animals living in it, I just really had to get away from all the noise that goes on inside my village.

I have explored every crack and corner of this place, and nothing exciting ever happens here anymore I'm a 12-year-old growing girl who's in need for some adventure. The only one who has ever showed me any kind of excitement was my big brother, but he died when I was 7. We had a lot of fun together exploring and meeting new people around town, and you know, he was just a loving big brother. But one day he woke me up very early in the morning saying that he wanted to say goodbye to me before he went off to take some sort of exam, but he never came back.

Sometimes I wonder if he's really dead, or if this is just another one of his crazy planned out adventures. Maybe he just wants me to come find him, but who knows maybe my brain just hasn't processed the idea of him being dead just yet. I finally climbed all the way down the tree and started heading back home but made sure to stop by the market to pick up some bread for my grandmother. When I Heard a very interesting conversation happening just 2 feet away from where I was standing.

" Hey did you hear, this years Hunter exam has started, are you going to try this year " "nah, that's like asking to be put in my death bed, do you know how dangerous it is, and besides they say the Hunter exam gets harder and harder to pass every year." My once bored expression changed ever so quickly into a bright smile that was filled with wonder and curiosity. " Um excuse me sir, but I couldn't help but to have over heard your conversation earlier about this so called Hunter exam and I would have to ask, how to you get in " I asked with the same innocent expression imprinted onto my face.

But the man just laughed at my question before answering "Sorry little girl, but the hunter exam is no place for cuties like you, so why don't you just run back home to play with your dolls " said one of the men as he waved of to me and walked away laughing. " ...prick... " I said to myself in a low whisper and started once more on my unfinished journey to get back home.

Once I arrived I was greeted with the warm smile of my grandmother and younger sister Holly. " Welcome home big sis!! " said my sister holly as she jumped out of her seat to grab my arm and pull me to the dinner table were there was loads of fresh cooked food. " I hope you like it, I helped grandma cook it " I took a plate and started to dig into my fair share of the food, when Grace walked out of her room.

" Well, well, look who's finally back " she said walking over to me in a swift motion to flick me in the head with her index finger and thumb. " ouch!! Wow it's great to see you to sis " Everyone just shared a laugh at the table while I rubbed my head. Their was a warming silence at the table for awhile and nobody really had anything interesting to talk about, so I decided that it would be nice to start the conversation.

" so, hey I stopped by the market today before I came home, and heard a very interesting conversation " I said while stuffing my face with the fresh baked bread I picked up at the market. " oh, what about dear? " " well I'm glade you asked grandma, it was about some kind of Hunter exam " My grandmother had seemed to have froze at the sudden topic that was now being discussed. " A hunter exam? What's that " " it's an exam that many brave and strong people have come across but only small numbers come out alive let alone a hunter " my big sister Grace shot me a dirty look and raised her eyebrow " and you want to take this crazy exam. "

" well yeah, nothing ever happens in this village, and I'm in need of some adventure and inspiration " My grandmother looked to me with a hint of worry but managed to smile anyway. " I think you should go for it dear, there are many things in this world you have yet to discover and who knows you may be able to solve the mystery of your brothers disappearance. " what about his disappearance?? " I shot my grandmother a confused look questioning on why she just would let me go so easily and why in the world would she bring up my brother.

" wait, what do you mean grandma, is their something you're not telling us about big brother " Said Holly " it will all come to reveal itself in time my darling but for right now we need to help your sister Y/N get ready for her trip she has a long way to go if she's ever going to find out the truth about your big brother, and become a hunter " I couldn't help but smile widely as my face grew with excitement. I'm finally getting my chance to explore the world beyond this village.

( The next day )

It was finally time to leave, I hugged my dearest family goodbye and climbed on board the big ship that was awaiting to take me to the start of my new adventure. As the boat set sail I waved one more time to the family I was leaving behind and could see a tear slide down my grandmother's face but gave her a reassuring look letting her know that everything will be just fine.

My journey was now officially beginning, thoughts filling my mind questioning who I would meet and the places I would get to see, even though I will miss this village, it's still will always remain close to my heart.

After awhile of sailing I found myself staring deeply in thought at the beautiful sea and sky, the smell of ocean water set me at ease. As if something's telling me that my family will be alright, and there started my journey on becoming a hunter.
