Mabilis akong pumasok sa kotse ni Sage. Nang makalayo na kami sa university, saka lang nagtanong si Sage kung bakit kakaiba ang kinikilos ko.
"What's with your babe thing back there?" naiiritang tanong niya sa akin habang nagdridrive.
"That's my queue that there's something wrong. Kailan ba kita tinawag na babe ever?"
"I'm not dense. I know there's something wrong."
"Matthias is a vampire. He put me under compulsion. He commanded me na magmeet mamayang midnight sa school parking lot."
"And hindi tumalab sayo, of course. I already felt that he is not human. And I am sure that he is not an ordinary vampire as he can walk in broad daylight."
"Sage, I have to say yes to him bago pa siya magkaroon ng idea na walang effect ang vampire compulsion sa akin."
"I see. Kaya pala nakatitig siya sayo nang dinatnan kayo. That is a smart move, Rei."
"He is an old vampire, 16th century vampire old I guess. I saw flashes of visions the moment na nag handshake kami."
Mabilis kong sinabi ko kay Sage kung anong nasaksihan ko sa visions. The way they feast on their victims still scares the hell out of me. Kilabot! Katakot!
"He's probably within the elite circles of vampires. Let's talk to Rusty. It is his area of expertise."
"Elite circle? May ganun?"
"Yes and you have to listen carefully kay Rusty as one royal vampire seems to like you."
"Royal vampire? Are you referring to Matthias?"
"I can sense somehow that he is into you. I can't explain it pero I think he likes you as if he is attracted to you. Bawat tingin niya sayo parang may deep emotion na pinaghuhugutan."
"Imagination mo lang yun, Sage. Or pwede din naman na ang ganda ko lang at type niya ko?"
Sage just rolled his eyes as if naiinis siya na type ako ni Matthias. In fairness to Matthias, he is really good looking. Nakarating kami sa mansion nila Sage ng mabilis. Pinuntahan agad namin si Sir Rusty na nasa study room niya.
"Matthias Wolf ba ang sabi mo?" tanong ni Si Rusty.
"And Lena Schmidt. New transfer students from Austria. I am sure I have read their names or I have saw their faces somewhere sa mga old books mo," nakangiti na sabi ni Sage.
"Nang bumalilk ako sa Europe as a vampire, I was easily accepted sa isang royal vampire society. I found out that some of the most powerful men in the world are indeed vampires. I studied ancient vampire history while si Sage naman ay pinag-aaralan ang history ng mundo for the last four hundred years simula nang maghibernate siya," sabi ni si Sir Rusty habang may hinahanap na book sa kanyang library.
"Sir Rusty, nakakalakad si Matthias sa sikat ng araw. Sabi ni Sage, he is probably a royal vampire."
"With the help of some monks in Bhutan, these powerful royal vampires were able to obtain daylight rings. In exchange, they will lose a large part of their vampiric power during the day."
"Bakit po kayo walang daylight ring?" tanong ko kay Sir Rusty.
"Daylight rings are rare at sa pagkakaalam ko, only twelve were created. Ten belongs to the royal vampires. As for the other two rings, I don't know who owns it right now."
"Matthias has a daylight ring and probably si Lena din. Mag jowa kaya sila? Magkasama sila palagi eh."
"I will check more about these new transfer students at babalitaan ko kayo after an hour. I may need to contact some friends overseas," dagdag ni Sir Rusty habang nagbabasa ng libro.
