Chapter 67 - Island Resort

Rei seemed to change completely in a blink of an eye. Kinakausap niya ko pero wala na ang masayahin na si Rei. Minsan mas gusto ko pa na mainis siya or magalit siya kaysa yung ganito. 

Di ko naman siya masisisi dahil hindi maganda ang nakita niya sa amin ni Magawen. Our lips are locked and I can't explain everything to her without hurting her.

Alam ko, part of her is thinking na may nangyari sa amin ni Magawen. At wala ako lakas ng loob sabihin sa kanya na bigla lamang dumating si Magawen sa bahay at naghubad sa harap ko hoping na maakit niya ko. But Rei was there, wrong place and wrong time. I am sure she felt devastated sa nakita niya and she is trying her best not to show it.

"Matthias, asan si Rei?" tanong ko kay Matthias nang makita ko siya sa parking lot. 

Sabi ni Rei, wag ko daw siya sunduin pero kailangan na namin mag-usap. Ayoko na nasasaktan siya ng ganto dahil sa akin.

"She didn't tell you?" kunot noo na sagot ni Matthias sa akin.

"Tatanungin ba kita kung alam ko? Ang sabi niya hapon daw tapos ng exams niya. Pumunta ko sa classroom, wala naman siya."

"Kanina pa natapos ang exams niya, half day nga lang siya. Di ka ba kasama?"

"Kasama saan?" 

It is my turn naman na kumunot ang noo. Bakit parang mas may alam pa si Matthias sa whereabouts ni Rei kaysa sa akin.

"Ang sabi niya, magbabakasyon daw siya sa probinsya ng papa niya this summer vacation. Akala ko naman, kasama ka na pupunta doon."

Umiling lang ako dahil walang sinabi si Rei sa akin about any summer vacation. Nagpaalam ako kay Matthias at tinawagan sa phone si Silawin para malaman kung saan ang probinsya nila Rei.

"Silawin, alam mo ba kung saan ang probinsya ni Michael Manahan? Yung daddy ni Rei?" tanong ko kay Silawin sa phone.

"Sa Marinduque pero hindi ko alam exactly kung saan. Alam ko, tabing dagat. Isang barrio malapit sa port."

"Rei is gone. Hindi siya nagpaalam sa akin at ang sabi niya lang kay Matthias, pupunta siya sa probinsya ng daddy niya."

"She called me last night about this. Balak daw niya magbakasyon ng ilang buwan doon. Bakit di niya sinabi sayo? I thought you are supposed to look after her. Di ba girlfriend mo siya? May problema ba Isagani?" seryosong tanong ni Silawin.

Sinalaysay ko kay Isagani kung paano pumunta dito si Magawen at kung anong awkward moment ang nadatnan ni Rei.

"Magawen was there? I am sure she's here in Turkey two days ago! You have to be alert, Magawen is cunning and she might use you against me or Rei."

"Silawin, di ka ba nagseselos sa sinabi ko?"

"You are worried about me Isagani? Magawen is no longer the woman I loved. You must be worried on how Reichel felt about this. My great great grand daughter seems to like you, possibly love you even. She's a new vampire and these kind of emotions are dangerous."

Noong gabing din yun, ginamit ko ang chopper ni Rusty para makarating sa Marinduque. It only took me less than an hour pero hindi ko alam kung saan ko hahanapin si Rei, kaya nauwi ako sa isang island resort...

Vampiric compulsion becomes handy when I compelled five men to find Rei during daytime. Pinakita ko ang picture ni Rei sa kanila para hanapin during their free time. In exchange, I have given them large amount of money.

Aqui's three assassins appeared the next morning. Di na ko magtataka. They are thorough and they found me easily. I didn't bother to cover my tracks. I also asked them to locate Rei during the night. Kung pwede lang suyurin ang buong isla, iuutos ko na gawin nila mahanap lang si Rei.

For few days, nagstay ako sa island resort pero walang balita kung asan si Rei. Hindi nila mahanap as if bigla na lang nawala na parang bula. Somehow, her disappearance made me worried. Pero alam ko din na gusto niya lang lumayo, mapag-isa.

Pinatawag ko si Matthias at si Lena sa island resort para magbakasyon with me and they agreed with no hesitations. When Armand died, Lena became a different person. She's full of life at palaging masaya. I am glad I somehow lifted her suffering.

"Anong ipag-uutos mo? Hindi mo naman siguro ako papupuntahin dito para lang magbakasyon?" natatawang tanong ni Matthias habang nagsusunbathing ako sa sand beach.

"Do you like the place?"

"I love it actually. It would be better if Reichel is here," sagot ni Matthias sa akin na humiga sa katabi kong bench.

"You like her huh?" tanong ko habang umiinom ng fresh mango juice

"No, Sage. I love Reichel. I love her so much that I will set her free kung ikaw ang mahal niya. Where is she?"

"I compelled five men already. They can't find her. Sabi ni Silawin, this is her dad's province. Pati ang Powerpuff girls ni Aqui, hindi siya mahanap."

"And you need my help to find her, is that right?"

Tumango lang ako habang nakatitig sa bughaw karagatan. 

Asan ka ba Rei? Saan lupalop ka ba nagtatago?

Matthias openly confessed that he loves Rei. I know it and I can sincerely feel that he is telling the truth. But I can't seem to digest the idea that Rei and Matthias will be together someday.

No, I can't. Rei is mine, only mine.

With the help of the talented men of Matthias, they were able to track that Rei went to this island almost a week ago using a ferry. But after that, there seems to be no footage of her on the island.

"We've been here for more than a week now, Sage. I think Rei does not want to be bothered kaya ayaw niya magpakita sayo. She's smart. Alam niya na possible mo ko kontakin and she knew how to avoid traffic cameras which is very few lang naman sa island na ito," sabi Matthias sa akin during our breakfast.

"Any advice that you can give me?"

"Let her go."

"I can't do that, Matthias."

"Rei can take care of herself. If she eluded us for days, it only means she doesn't want to be found. Give her space. Give her time."

"Again, I can't do that. It seems na kahit vampire na siya, she can still harness the power of a Punong Babaylan. Magawen saw this. You know what it means. She became a threat to the royal vampires again."

"Sage, she may have traces of elemental powers left but I don't think she is capable of finishing the ritual. She is vampire and she is no longer human."

"Sana ganyan din ang iniisip ng mga royal vampires dahil ayoko na mapahamak si Rei."

"I will do my best to find her. I will summon all of my men to find her. Makikipag coordinate din ako sa dalawa pang royal vampire na nagswear ng loyalty sayo to find her. But I can't do it here. I need to leave. I am assuming that your Power Puff girls can protect you without me, right?"

"I don't need protection Matthias"

"Yes, you do need protection Sage, because you are not thinking straight."
