"bu- but how?"

"Well I think you know how."

"Well I know how, but - how?"

I just looked down at the stick in my hands.

"I'm an idiot that's how."

"Come on we both know that's not true. You are smart beyond your years and you know it."

I just smiled a little.

"It's hard to explain though Matt."

"Why?"

"Because, I literally can't tell you."

"So you don't have to. We can make this work right? It'll be okay."

He grabbed my arms and helped me off the ground. When we stood he hugged me again. that night Matt and I went to the diner two blocks down the street from Nelson and Murdock. We sat and talked about his new case, a little something to get my mind of my current situation.

"So we're defending this guy and since you seem to have given up on finding whoever killed your dad I figured maybe you could help us."

"Yeah I'd like that a lot. I can get to know foggy and Karen a little more too."

I sipped the milkshake in front of me when the waitress came over.

"How's it going hun? I see you've moved on from that other guy."

I just smiled at her. Matt tilted his head in surprise.

"Oh um this is actually my uncle. My friend was busy today and he just moved here so we're hanging out."

"Oh well it's good to see you with a new face. Would you like your usual?"

"Uh no, thank you, I'm just gonna stick with this. Thank you though."

"No problem dear."

She walked away and Matt just huffed at me.

"Your uncle?"

"What?"

"Nothing, it's just, do I look like an uncle?"

"I mean you have the potential to be my dad's younger brother."

"Okay that's fair, but how come she's met this mystery guy and I haven't."

"I thought we came here to get my mind off things."

"We did but she brought it up."

"Are you seriously blaming our waitress?"

"I'm just saying. I'm curious as to why I can't meet this guy."

"You just can't Matt. Trust me you probably wouldn't like him."

"What makes you say that?"

"I just have this feeling, ya know?"

"So we're basing this off a feeling."

He laughed a little.

"Yeah we're basing this off a feeling. Plus you'd probably kick his ass."

"Your damn right I would."

Now we were both laughing a little. I guess that's one way to redirect the conversation. When we were finished we paid, tipped, and left. Finally at home we both plopped down on the couch and sat in silence. I guess I have to schedule a doctors appointment now.
