Chapter 9-Two Long Years-

I didn't want her to go. But, they needed her. I couldn't tell them no. We said our goodbyes and she left on the ship. I watched it sail away into the distance. It hurt me not being able to see her anymore. I didn't even get to ask her out on a date. The first couple of days after she left were hard, I didn't have someone to talk to or to cuddle up with at night. Then weeks past and it got a bit easier. She would skype me from the ship and tell me how her day was and what she saw. We would talk for hours till her boss would come into the computer area and tell her that it was time to say goodbye and head to her room for lights out.

With each passing month it would be a couple of days before she would skype me. That's when I would worry that something bad had happened to her or worse. The possibilities are endless when she's far away like this. I finally asked her out and she said yes. She said that it was like we were already dating before she left. I agreed to her words and gave her a sweet smile to comfort her. There were days when she would cry because she missed me or a couple of her crew had been killed in battle while on the ship.

The first year had passed and there was one more year left before she would return to me. Where I could hold her in my arms and shower with hugs and kisses all day long. She would tell me that it was a matter of time that she would be home and I could be with her again. The second year came pretty fast. I asked her when she would be home but never gave me a straight answer. It was April and my birthday was coming up. She told me that she wouldn't be able to skype due funeral services for the ones who had fallen while she was in command. Her boss promoted her to Captin and she left with full befits. Little did I know she returned the day of my birthday. It was at the warehouse where we filmed and had birthdays for people. We were having a good time, when the door to the warehouse opened up and I saw her walking in her Captin's uniform up to me and she stood there smiling at me. I began to tear up and hug her while balling my eyes out. She pulled away from me, looked into me eyes and said the words,

"I'm home."
