39. Fall Back

I walk over to Shawn and wrap my arms around him this time.
I go onto my tip toes to kiss his cheek.

He seems upset.

"He was asking me why I blocked Aaron" I say to reassure that what I said wasn't a good thing.
"I just can't have him beating Aaron up ya know?"

"Yeah I get it. You're still gonna care"

"No... Not as much as I do for you" I sigh.

It is clear he thinks I'm trying to protect Aaron.
He probably thinks I still want to be with him.

"Look V it's late" he mumbles still not facing me.

"Huh?" I say feeling rejected. "Shawn can you look at me?"

He bites his lip, pulls out of my grip and faces me as I go to speak to him again.

"I want you to know I do really really like you okay"

I can't have him thinking he is a fall back.

He is so much more than that.

"Okay Vanessa, drive safe."

That's it?

Something is off.
I pick up my phone and leave.

I shouldn't have let her stay.
It's too soon for me to do this.
She only just decided that Aaron was wrong for her.
She hasn't even spoke to him. Maybe he hasn't even done anything wrong.
I just don't know what to do.

I want to shelter her and call her mine. Protect her from those who could hurt her.
Still I can't.

If I were to fall straight back in, what would happen when Aaron returned.
Would I be first choice or forgotten.

I'm so unsure of all these what ifs.

I feel so incredibly jealous.
All she did was say his name.

Now I feel guilty.

I made her leave for no reason. Now I regret it.

This girl has me in some mess.
