I let out a sigh as I stepped onto the porch of my home in The Bronx. Aiden, my 1 year old son laid asleep in my arms.

The flight from Cali must've worn him out I thought to myself

The flight from Cali must've worn him out I thought to myself. With my one free hand, I used my key to unlock the door of the house. It looked just like I left it when I returned back to school after winter break.

I walked in and laid Aiden on the couch before walking back out to the porch to grab our bags.

Being a single mom at 19 while also being a full time student was hard, but I managed to get it done. I had no choice but to make it work for me and my baby. With the help of my aunt out in Cali, it made it a little easier. My dad was also a big help too. He pays for my apartment so I don't have to work, as long as I keep my grades up. That was our deal.

I walked back into the house before closing the door. I lifted my arm and looked at the time. It was a little before noon. I guess I could make me a little something to eat. I was starving. My dad told me he stocked up my fridge since I was back home for summer vacation. I loved that man with my whole heart. It's been just the two of us since my mom passed when I was 11. She overdosed, and I was the one that found her. Shit scared me for life.

I walked into the kitchen and pulled out the ingredients to make a quesadilla. As I started to cut up the chicken, there was a knock on the door. I walked over to the sink and washed my hands before opening the door.

"Reign!" I squealed pulling her into a hug.
