Re-Opening Of An Old Wound

I was awakened by a mysterious text reading

TEXT MESSAGE: "I want to see you and squash this whole grudge thing please give Me a call Love your Big Bro"

I quickly got out of bed but not so quick as to wake Lauren who was sleeping soundly  I walked into the bathroom to do my morning routine before heading downstairs to the kitchen to grab something to eat it was early only 7:45 am and everyone was still asleep as I made my way to the kitchen another message pinged from my phone

TEXT MESSAGE :"I understand if you don't ever want to talk to me again I know I was an asshole and what I did to you is unforgivable but you are my baby sister and I love you and I want us to have an attempt at some sort of sibling relationship again"

I shoved my iPhone into my pocket completely ignoring his plea I mean why should I give him a chance to explain himself? he betrayed me and broke my heart the one guy I trusted and had a close bond with completely fucked me over and also caused me to end my life I was in a better happier place now so why would I want to ruin my happiness for the sake of this dick wad.. needless to say I wasn't impressed by his words nor did I care to even see him again for that matter 

I stared into the refrigerator for what seemed like hours until my concentration was broken by two arms wrapping around my waist the faint smell of Gardenias hit my nose letting me know that it was Lauren.

"Hey you, why are you up so early?" she asked innocently the sleepiness still resounding in her incredibly raspy yet sweet tone

"I couldn't sleep and I didn't want to wake you" I said as I turned to kiss her head Lauren left my embrace to start a fresh pot of coffee and I couldn't help but stare at her as she did so thoughts began to form in my head and I realized how extremely happy I was in this moment having her in my life and not only her but the girls as well they all were my rock and my strength they had about 2 weeks until they were set to begin recording more songs for their new Album  7/27 so that means that they would be extremely busy and I probably wouldn't be able to see Lauren as much as I wanted Epic had arranged for them to stay in their own apartments while recording the album in Long Beach which was a 3 hour drive from my place but I supported the girls as well as Lauren and I knew how excited they were for this next album.

I watched quietly as Lauren yawned and poured herself a cup of coffee and a small smile crossed my face

"What?" she asked me breaking me from my stare

"Oh nothing I was just thinking about how happy I am you know with you and the the girls being here" I stated with a half smile

"Aww, that's so sweet babe I'm happy as well and the girls well self explanatory... do you want coffee?" she asked as she attempted to reach for a coffee mug and realizing that she was too short I quickly got behind her gently placing my hand on her waist as I grabbed the mug from the top shelf and set it onto the counter beside her I reached my hands up to move her hair back before placing soft kisses down her neck  Lauren put her cup down and wrapped her arm around my neck as she slowly began running her fingers through my hair

"AHHHEEMMM!" a loud voice boomed through the kitchen making us both jump

"You guys are really making out in the kitchen?" Dinah joked as she headed for the coffee pot behind her walked Camila's small frame she looked so tired I giggled to myself before removing my hands from Lauren's waist and leaning carelessly against the counter 

"Well we WERE until you startled us Poly" I joked making Lauren bust into her baby laugh.

"Polynesian and proud boo" Dinah shot back as she attempted to strike a pose

(Time Forward)

I sat on the balcony overlooking the Los Angeles skyline and quietly sipped  a non alcoholic Mimosa the afternoon was breezy and cool I still hadn't told Lauren nor the girls about my brother texting me this morning but the thought of doing so weighed heavily on my mind

"Hey I thought i'd find you out here?" Lauren's sweet voice cooed in my ear I glanced up and noticed that she had a blanket wrapped around her 

"Oh hey Babe come sit with me I wanna tell you something.."  I said in a low tone Lauren complied and made herself comfortable laying in between me she rested her back against my front and her head lay on my shoulder "What's wrong babe?" she asked I could see the concerned look on her face

"This morning when I woke up I got a text message from my brother.. he told me that he wants to see me and end this grudge I have been holding against him but I'm not ready to forgive him I'd rather him just stay away"  I added as I stared out into the distance

Lauren was quiet for a moment but spoke up

"Why now? I mean after all he has done to you why now?" she asked

"I don't know.. but he is urgent in a way and insists on seeing me what could he possibly have to tell me after that night at the concert that really took a toll on me I don't know if I am ready to see him nor forgive him" I said

"Baby listen, your brother is an asshole I know that we all know that we've seen it first hand with our own eyes and yes he did some really fucked up shit to you in the past but you can't allow that to make you a bitter person forever I know how forgiving you are how incredibly sweet and caring you can be I've seen it he's a dick yes but he's still your brother the fucked up shit he did is unforgivable but you can't go on living your life with this huge chip on your shoulder you know? so let him come here, hear him out, see what he has to say I know it's against what you feel but once he has said his peace and if you then choose to forgive him you can go on with your life knowing that you did the right thing despite how you feel and I'll be by your side I promise" Lauren stated

her words were true and I couldn't deny that so after giving it much thought I decided to hear him out even if I wasn't completely prepared for what he was going to tell me..
