Ashton loosen his tie and waited for Natalia to talk but she didn't say anything not even a single word just like she didn't say a word in the flight as well. It's been two days since the conversation between them has ended. Ashton was dying to hear her voice, his name from her lips but all he could hear was silence and her red eyes.
Natalia was about to leave the room when Ashton stopped her by pulling her arm, making her crash with his chest. She looked at him with her swollen eyes and his heart just cried in pained.
"What's has happened??" he asked. His voice held desperation anybody could tell and even Natalia too
"Your asking this Mr Ashton David Cross" she said ignoring all his desperation
"Love, did I do something wrong??" he asked, his voice laced with pain
"You broke your promise" she cried and he left her.
His mind started recalling all the events happened in New Zealand not even a single event made him realize about his mistake. He looked at her in confusion
"You said you will stay by my side forever then why didn't you??" she shouted breaking down in fits of tears
"Baby I don't know anything" he was still unaware of the havoc building inside her. He wanted to know his mistake and sort it out as early as possible.
The thought of she not being on his side or around her was enough to send shivers down his spine and give his nerves a marathon run.
"Xavier Wilson accused me for being responsible for Nicholas's death and you just sat there without uttering a word, like me and Xavier didn't exist for you"
"Natalia..... " he tried to hold her shoulders but she pushed him away
"You broke the promise of forever staying by my side" she cried and turned her heels to leave but he was quick enough to pull her back in his arms
He hugged her forcefully while she struggled to get out of his hold. He waited for her to calm but not letting his hold loosen around her. She eventually melted in his arms and cried on his chest.
"I couldn't hear yours and Nicholas love story" he confessed with an aching pain inside him while she stood there shock and still
He broke the hug and made her sit on the bed while her eyes didn't even for a mere second left his face.

He let himself miserable in front of her
He kneeled in front of her and placed his palms on her and rubbed it gently. "It was heart wrenching listening to my love's love story. The worst part was I wasn't the man she fell in love with"
Her eyes went wide in complete dumbstruckness. She saw something she couldn't even imagine. For a minute she thought it isn't real but it was. The gentle rub of his palms on her made her realize it was real.
She saw a tear rolled down his eyes...
The Ashton David Cross was crying
Before she could do anything to wipe his tears or console him he wiped it off immediately and within seconds he composed himself and faced her.
"I had earplugs in my ears and the music volume was too high for me to hear anything happening around my surroundings.. I'm sorry" he said with a half smile while his eyes said a different story
She could see the emotions on his face changing, the depth of his feelings could be seen in his eyes. How could she not see it before?? She asked herself and the answer was Nicholas.

"Ashton bacon and eggs!! I'm not going to eat it" she wined while he smiled on her childish behavior
"You'll get late love if you don't finish food asap" he said towering over her and pointing towards her plate
"But bacon in breakfast is just so not good" she cribbed but he was busy checking his phone
"Your not even listening" she banged her fist on the table and made an angry face
He smiled and sat beside her "I'm not looking at you doesn't mean I ain't listening to my lady love" he said and pushed the plate towards her and she cringed her nose
"Today the chef will be back from holiday so from tomorrow your gonna eat whatever you wish to have this just for today..." he said feeding her the first morsel.
She didn't open her mouth to eat while he placed the morsel on her lips "C'mon I've cooked it for you" he said with a sigh
She pouted "Just for today.." she said and opened her mouth and he feeded her
They weren't the ideal husband or wife but last night they came to a conclusion that they are going to be friends and be there for each other whenever needed. Today was the first day of her college and here she was wining to eat food.
"Why are you coming with me???" she asked once they reached NYU. He climbed out of the car and opened the door for her
"Ashton I asked something" she said crossing her arms around her chest
"I need to have a little conversation with the dean" he said closing the door behind her
She placed her backpack on her shoulder and tangled her arm around his. She knew there were stares following her all around. From curious to jealous. They were ogling, staring, checking them out.
"Get used to this kind of surroundings" he said walking ahead with a stoic face without sparing a single glance around
"I'm trying..." she said and shifted close to him. The stares were making her self conscious.
"There you are Mr Cross!!" they heard the Dean Stephen Billimore calling them out.
Ashton shook hands with Mr Billimore while Natalia just smiled "Mrs Cross your class is at IX A room no. You may proceed. Please take a left and straight and you will see the board" he said and she nodded her head
Natalia looked at Ashton and found him already staring at her. He kissed her forehead and murmured "There's a surprise in the class.. Go"
She smiled and left the two gentlemens for their "little conversation". Stephen Billimore entered his office with Ashton behind him.
Natalia entered the class and saw all the students staring at her. Some with awee expression, some were unaware of her and some were jealous. She grabbed the last bench and ducked her face in her phone. The constant stares made her embarrassed
After few minutes she felt someone sit beside her and tapping her shoulder. She averted her eyes from phone to the person and once they settle on the person they grew wide and mouth hung open.
"Helloooo Natalia..." the man gave his charming smile to which any girl would die.
Last she remember he wasn't wearing any formal clothes. He was in casual wear like a college guy and his change of personality not reflecting his age.
"Xavier Wilson..." she whispered once she got her lost senses back
"You remember me...." he said and winked at her
She remembered Ashton's words "there's a surprise in the class"
