I apologize for being late, my laptop went dead so the fixing and all took a lot of time but I'm here we'll be updating frequently and ending the book within this month. Inshaallah. I have divided chapter 39 in two parts will be updating part two next week. Stay tuned.
Ashton's POV
Abigail was all set to present the papers for the re-opening of Nicholas Wittgenstein's case. She had enough material with her to present the case, the recording and the paperwork found from Victor Reynolds house was enough for the case to re-open and was a piece of strong evidence against Victor Reynolds. Though Aaron did trouble Abigail a lot during all the work instead of helping he was flirting but then the woman is far more powerful than any person could think. She didn't acknowledge any of his charms as if the only person Aaron Silvertone didn't exist in the room.
I was more shocked at Austin's reaction there was never a time Austin left without flirting with a woman but today he was quiet and wasn't his usual self. His father's true identity has surely made the guy more cruel and cold from inside he's trying too hard not to fight with himself and blame himself for all the fiasco. But I do think it's even related to March I have noticed a lot of changes between their behaviors and actions. At first, they were inseparable but now there is some tension between them, I just hope Austin didn't break our bro code. For now, my concerns were Nicholas's case and Natalia's safety I gulped from drink in one gone and kept the glass on the table. Tomorrow is going to be another hectic day.
There were heavy footsteps and loud noise from the drawing-room "Ashton, have you checked on Natalia?" Allen barged into the room, his breathing heavier than usual, sweat beads formed on his forehead while his face was covered with worry
Everyone's eyes were on him and the topic of Natalia alarmed everyone "I checked on her half an hour back she would be reaching in no time" I tried to lessen his worries but my own started to form
I was scared to send her but being away from me will be the best for her no one knows what Victor Reynolds's next move is and my conversation with Xavier did inform me that Veronica is on her way to New York. The duo is as dangerous as mafia. A single scratch on my women and I'll shred both of them in pieces. I have sent a bundle of high-end security with her I just hope she reaches my family home safe and secure.
"She won't reach Ash" Allen breathed heavily his voice sunk in his throat while my own fears engulfed me
"The security is dead completely," he said and the words rang in my ears strong and thick "they all are dead lying lifeless on the street" Austin stood up from his place while Aaron was about to drink but the glass just fell from his hand breaking my trance of thoughts
"You kidding right?" Austin asked but his voice held terror
"Do I look like I am in condition for any jokes?" Allen shouted on top of his lungs but my brain wouldn't work I was paranoid about her safety but this was something I didn't think about suddenly the loud ringing of my phone calmed the complete house. There was dead silence in the room only the phone could be heard.
The silence before the storm
I checked the caller ID and it was Natalia I instantly picked up the phone but my worries broke boundaries when I heard an unfamiliar yet familiar voice of a woman who I was sure wasn't my woman
"Hello Mr. Billionaire" the voice was like an old broken piano to my ears that sounded horrible but I knew the owner o the voice was Veronica. Ii didn't like her voice since the day I've heard it
"Where is Natalia?" I asked keeping my anger in touch I can't let her do anything to my wife she's too fragile but i know she is strong enough to fight her battles and her battles are going to be scary once the case re-opens
"She's here," Veronica said with a bark of a laugh, her voice no more held humor and my voice no more held patience "would you like to talk to her," she said in a sarcastic tone and my blood boiled
"Ashhh" I hear the mumble from the other end but her voice wasn't clear she was unconscious
"Natalia where are you? answer me I'll come and get you" I tried to wake her up speaking loudly with concerns flooding from her voice
"Ash..." another harsh breathing then she cried and my heart sunk deep in worries of my loved one
"Why are you crying?" I cocooned her but her breathing went on becoming heavy
"Ashton.." she breathed my name again trying to form words to say something but I couldn't understand it
"Where are you??" I asked again in a more loud manner trying to wake her up or just bring her back to senses
she cried more loudly like a wail "Please it's a trap" she shouted from the other end, I heard a loud voice of a slap and a sharp intake of breath they were testing too much of my patience, they shouldn't have messed up with my only weakness and strength. I'll dig their grave with my own hands
"Shut up" I heard a male barking on her the voice was also an unfamiliar familiar voice and realizing, it was Victor Reynolds.
"Natalia" I screamed her name, cries got louder and the beating too "who the hell are you?" I shouted my phone was on the recording mode and whatever she speaks can be used against her as a piece of evidence but my concern, for now, was my wife
"don't you remember me," she asked,
The voice of the beating got louder and Natalia's cries too "Veronica leave my wife"I screamed again
Silence engulfed on the other end too "C'mon before that let her meet her father" I heard her nasty remark and my fears increasing. We planned to disclose this to Natalia after Victor Reynolds is behind bars but fate has some other game planned for us. I don't understand does my fate hates me so much a little while ago I was happy and now I am back with fears. why?
"Victor Reynolds I'll dig your grave," I said in a death tone but his evil intentions didn't once were affected
he laughed "Na Na" the tone was sarcastic as if he was enjoying everything "before that dig Natalia's grave cause she'll die"
"I'll kill you if you touch a hair on her"
"Then ask that lawyer Abigail Haydon to not appeal in court today" his true intentions were out but he has committed a grave mistake by messing up with my weakness
"Victor Reynolds you're in this deep" I blurted. My friends' attention was glued on me and hearing Victor's name Austin's head hung low I wanted to sympathize with my friend but I didn't have time for that, not now
"I know so do one more thing invest another hundred million in my account in half an hour or else I'll cut Natalia in pieces and courier her to you"
"Victor" I screamed, a little bit of respect I had for this man due to Austin was all gone more my voice got louder the more respect I lost for this man
"Lower your voice young man or else I'll cut piece by piece of her body parts and courier it to you"
Austin snatched the phone from my hand shouted on his father "Dad why are you doing this. I'll try and to save you, leave Natalia" at the end his voice had pleading but I'm sure the man wouldn't care for his son either
Allen snatched the phone from Austin's hand and kept it on speaker "I can't Austin. She's your half-sister, my illegitimate child, I can't let her live " the blood dried from our veins this wasn't the way we wanted her to know about her father, the father she resented all her life
"I am your daughter?" her whisper came shortly while her breathing went rugged
"ohh yes your Natalia Reynolds, but then I always wanted to kill you but for her greed, you're still alive "
A sharp breath of intake and the line went dead...
