The Unfortunate Side

Today I'm going back to see Maia. I know all my siblings want me to stay away from her, but I need to know why the hell she hurt Laura. Just like before, hurting Laura is crossing the line.

"Ross, don't be crazy! She's gonna hurt you," Rydel yelled at me while I was getting ready to go. I rolled my eyes and tied up my converse. "So be it then. If it's for Laura, it's worth it," I exclaimed to Rydel, hoping she'd understand. Rydel sighed in defeat and walked away. I grabbed car keys and walked out of my room, down the stairs and out the door.

I was about to start the ignition when I turned around and saw Laura in the passenger seat. "Laura, oh thank goodness! When did you wake up," I asked going for a hug, but I went right through her. "Uhm Laura, is there something different about you or is it just me," I asked confused. She chuckled a little and spoke. "Ross, I'm not awake. I'm in your mind," she explained. Oh, that makes a little more sense, I guess.... Nah not really. "Oh, hah, that was my next guess," I said scratching the back of my neck.

"Look Ross, I know you want to know why Maia did what she did to me, but hear me out. It's not a good thing to confront her. The last thing I want is for you to be hurt too," Laura explained. "But Laura, if I don't Maia will never get the lesson she deserved," I whined. "Ross, I get it. You're torn. But listen, I'm just in your head. I can't force you to do anything, but you need to ask yourself if this is right," Laura said.

I pondered her proposal and then shook my head. "Laura, this has to be done. Whether I come back alive or not doesn't matter. I need to set her straight," and with that I backed out of the driveway and Laura disappeared.

I walked up the porch and rung the door bell. No answer. I rung the door bell again. No answer. I lifted my hand and opened the door. Why was it unlocked? I grabbed a picture of Maia and I at the County Fair last year, five days after Laura had ran away. Man, what was I thinking back then.

Then, my heart stopped. That voice made me cringe.

"Hello Ross. I've been expecting you," She spoke. I literally cringed and turned to face her. "How's your little friend there Ross? Still in that coma. I'd be sympathetic, but she deserved it," Maia sniggered. I clenched my fists and ran towards Maia and pressed her up against the wall. "Say one more word and I swear I'll-" "You'll what?" Maia smirked.

I pressed her up more against the wall and spoke, "I'll kill you," I snarled. She laughed. "You'll kill me? Yeah right Lynch. You don't got any guts," She said. I dropped her form the wall and the fell onto a small glass coffee table, breaking it and shattering the glass. Maia winced in pain. She crashed into the ground and laid there.

"Look Maia, whatever business you have with Laura you can take it up with me first. You hurt Laura, and that's crossing the line, it always will be. So stay away from her, unless you have a reason not to," I warned. "Ross, you don't understand," Maia breathed. "Oh I understand perfectly. So don't even try to fool me," I replied.

"See you've got it all wrong," Maia screeched. "What Maia? What could I possibly have wrong?" I yelled.

"Laura is stealing you from me. You love me, not her. She deserves what she got. I hope she never wakes up from that coma. She's not worth it Ross! Think a little!" Maia said.

"You're full of shit, you know that right?" I said

"Really Ross, am I? Or is Laura," She smirked.

"Stay the hell away from her. You don't know who you're messing with," I warned.

"Oh, I think I do," She sneered.

A/N- Oh snap Maia. What do you think is gonna happen? Is Laura really hiding something? Or is Maia playing mind tricks? Guess you'll find out. ;)
