I was petrified to even move. It seemed like every part of my body just....shut down. My heart was beating a mile a minute, and I couldn't see a thing. There was darkness all around us, as I stood wedged between Mr. Turner and the counter. "Who is he?" I whispered softly to him.

There was a long pause. "I'll explain soon. You just need to stay by me, do you understand me Melinda? Do not under any circumstances let go of my hand." I blushed when I felt his fingers intertwine with mine.

Oh my god. He feels so good.

I immediately cursed at myself for thinking this. Stop thinking that Melinda! This is a crisis right now! And all I can think about is how nice Mr. Turner's skin feels against mine!

Even though it is a bit colder than I thought it would be.

"Y-yeah s-sure. But Mr. Turner what's upstairs? Who is it?" My eyes focused just enough to see him gazing down at me. My voice trembled as I spoke.

There was another silence. I waited for answer, but never got one. This was because right after I asked it, the noise appeared again. Mr. Turner's grip tightened, as he jerked me towards him.

"Do NOT let go." His voice was quiet, but firm. I nodded, as he led me towards the back door. "When I say run, you get into my car, got it? Don't look back. Just get inside."

My stomach squirmed. "Tell me what is going on!" I ordered in a harsh whisper.

A noise was heard on the staircase, and I gulped. "Shit." Mr. Turner cursed. "When I say go!" He exclaimed, no longer softly.

"Caleb you amuse me." I felt a tremor shoot through me, as a cool voice spoke from the staircase. "Must we continue this cat-and-mouse game?"

I glanced at Mr. Turner, who's eyes were fixated on the stairs. "You can't have her Jace." He retorted, hatred burning in his voice.

A laugh erupted from the man, I mean Jace. What the hell does he mean by "have me?" Oh my god what is going on?! "Well, that is not your decision Caleb. Give me the girl and we can put this all behind us."

Mr. Turner's grip tightened even more. "How about you fuck off?" My eyes widened at the language he just used. I felt him turn towards me. "GO!" He yelled at me.

Oh shit. That was my cue.

Except for the fact that my legs won't move! Mr. Turner gave me a push, and that kicked my instincts into gear. I took off running through the door, and out towards his car.

I fumbled with the car's handle, as I launched myself inside, slamming it shut. I was glancing back at the door, and I didn't see Mr. Turner anywhere. I gulped, as I locked the door.

It was so dark outside, which made me extremely nervous. I've seen way to many horror movies, and I know that right when I let my guard down, something really bad will happen.

As I took a deep breath, I nearly screamed when Mr. Turner jerked the car door open, shoving himself inside and starting it up. I stared at him the whole time, as we ripped out of the driveway.

My eyes were still fixated on him, as the car picked up speed. Within seconds, the car went from 50 mph to 85. "Mr. Turner slow down!" I exclaimed, but he didn't seem to listen.

It jumped from 85 to nearly 100 mph. "MR. TURNER!" I shrieked, fear shooting through me. "Stop the car!" I ordered in anger.

It was like he wasn't listening to a word I was saying. He just kept on glancing in his rearview mirror. I called his name a few more times, but he didn't acknowledge me. "CALEB!" I called his real name.
