Chapter 19

"I'm off Mr. Vernon. " I say as I collect my bag and phone.

"Have a good day and please be little early tomorrow." He smiles at me.

"Sure." I return the smile.

I make my way to the elevator and head downstairs. I say bye to Clary, the old receptionist and walk out of the door. Unlocking the car I get inside and throw my bag in the passenger seat. I dail sophia's number and She picks up after few rings.

"Hey there, lady." She greets me and i can imagine her warm smile.

"Hi sophie. How are you?" I ask.

"Not bad." She replies.

"Are you free and at home?" I ask and she replies with a 'yes'. "um...is Liam home?"

"Yes, he is home. He told me about your fight. And i can't believe Niall is back." She sighs.

"Me too. I am actually driving, can i come over, now?" I ask unsure.

"Of course. You both need to clear things." She says and i nod to myself.

"I will be there in ten." We exchange 'byes' and I hang up. I dial Niall's number and he picks up immediately.

"Hello?" I hear a female voice. Who is it?n

"Hello,um...is Niall there?" I ask.

"Who are you?" She asks ignoring my question.

"I am Madison." I reply curtly. Can't she just give his phone to him.

"Oh...Madison." She says to herself and I can hear the smirk in her voice. The line is silent for few seconds and I hear her voice again. "Babe...there's someone named Madison calling you." She says and then I hear Niall's voice.

"Madison? Everything alright?" I realise that he is talking to me. I stay quiet for few seconds trying to remember why I called him. "Madison, are you there?" He asks again.

"Um...yea. Sorry. I was wondering if you can pick up the kids and drop them home? I need to go...somewhere." I say.

"Go where?" He asks, curiously. Curiosity killed the cat.

"It's none of your business." I say, harshly.

"You're my business. So what you do is also my business. Tell me." He sighs, frustrated.

"Liam's." I sigh.

"Okay. I will pick the kids. Don't worry." He says.

"Thank you." I say and before I hang up I hear him say 'I love you.' I ignore the butterflies in my stomach and start the car and make my way towards Liam's house.

I find a parking spot and park the car there. I make my way to the elevators Of and press the buttons to Liam's apartment. I knock on the door once i reach there and Liam himself opens the door. His eyes land on me and his eyebrows furrow in confusion.

"What are you doing here?" There is no hint of anger in his voice, just curiosity.

"Um...I came to talk to you." I say, nervously. Why am I nervous? He's my best friend.

"Talk? About what?" He asks and i shift uncomfortably. "Come in."He sighs and moves aside to let me in. I clutch my bad closer and get inside. Sophia comes out of the kitchen when I enter the living room.

"Who's at the-" She stops mid sentence when she sees me. "Madison!" She squeals and wraps her arms around me. i hug her back and a smile spreads across my face. "It's been Long." She says as she pulls away.

"Yea." I reply and smile at her. "It's good to see you."

"Madsion. Why are you here?" We are interrupted by Liam. "What do you need to talk to me?"

Without uttering a word, I walk closer him and wrap my arms around his torso and lay my head on his chest. He stiffens at first and then slowly, wraps his arms around me. And before I know it tears are falling out of my eyes.

"Liam, I am so sorry. I should have told you everything in the beginning. I am so sorry I didn't, I regret not telling you." I sob into his chest. "I know what i did was wrong and the way I spoke to you... I feel so bad. But please, don't do this to me. I can't lose you Liam. Please forgive me." I pull away from him and join my hands together, literally begging him. "Please Liam." I say again. He wrpas his arms around me and pulls me to his chest.

"Okay. I forgive you. But you have to promise that you will tell me everything from now on." He sighs.

"I promise. And thank you." I say happily. Thank god! I got my best friend back.

"Yay!!" We hear and i pull away from liam and realize that Sophia is still here. "Thank god. I couldn't bear to see Liam like that, you know? He was so upset." She smiles and walks towards us. "Group hug!" She squeals and we all laugh together.

"The dinner was great babe." Liam smiles and kisses sophia on her cheek and she blushes.

"Okay, guys. I need to go." I say and then realize something. "Oh liam, Niall's parents are here." I say.

"Maura and bob? oh i should meet them. It's been long." He says and i nod in agreement.

"Please come. The kids want to meet you. And you to sophie, no excuses this time." I warn and she smiles.

"Sure. We'll come tomorrow." She promises and i hug her and then Liam.

"Bye. see you tomorrow." I say and head to the elevator.

I reach home fifteen minutes later and park my car in the garage. I look at the clock and its quarter to ten. I grab my keys, bag and phone head inside. I unlock the doors and get inside to see Maura and Bob sitting on the couch. Bob looks stressed and Maura looks so tensed. When she spots me and she immediately stands up and walks towards me.

"Madison..." She struggles.

"What happen, Maura?" I ask, furrowing my eyebrows and her reply makes my world fall apart.

"The kids are not home, yet." She says.
