Chapter 19: graduation and moving on

Cali Point of View

Beep beep beep...

"That's it Cali, open your eyes baby." I could hear someone say. Baby, is that Damien but the voice is different, younger. I slow open my eyes and close it again due to the light. "Doc, Doc she's awake." I open my eyes again to see Luke, his alive and a guy in a white white, I'm guessing the doctor. "Cali, I'm Doctor Mason, how are you feeling?" The Dr. Mason asked while checking me. "I'm ok I guess but my side hurt." The he smiled "that's good, everything seems fine, you just need time to rest and your wound should heal in no time. Don't carry or stretch your body in anyway, I mean sexual activity, until I give approval." He says as he look between me and Luke and it made me blush.

After dr. mason left Luke said he wanted to talk to me. He told me who he is and how his going to make everything right once he become the leader of his uncles gang. He told me how Xander and Destiny plans every thing. He didn't want to say anything because it wasn't in his place too but he said he owns me an explanation. I can't believe my best friend is going to be a gang leader, well I mean Damien are in a gang so I guess no surprise there.

"Cali, I know I lied to you but believe me the moment I saw you at the mall, I wanted to be your friend, well more than a friend. I fell more when I met you and started to be your friend during school. I would never intend to put your life in danger, I would do anything to protect you. I hid some part of my life but Please give me a chance, I love you." He said and I smile at him.

"Luke, you know that your my best friend and I would do anything for you too, but I'm sorry, no matter how much Damien hurt me his the only one in my heart." He frown but smiled right after. "I love you Cali and I will try to get over you even though it's going to be hard." He say and I smiled at him. "I love you too Luke. You knew my answer already." I told him and after we hugged.

Damien walks in, i still get chills and sparks when I see him that makes me smile. He congratulated me and Luke which made me confused. Luke left after, I think he wanted for me and Damien to talk since he knew how much I love him. Damien asked me to leave Luke to be with him, I got confused to what he was talking about but basically he wanted me to be his girlfriend. I wanted to say yes but before I could Kate came in running to hug me while Jen right behind her. I missed her so much, I haven't seen her almost a week, as soon as I talked to Kate, Damien suddenly says his goodbye and left, I tried calling his name because I wanted to tell him, Yes, I want to be your girlfriend but he didn't stop.

After a while Jen took Kate to sleep. While Miss Daisy walks in. she wanted to see how I was doing and told me that Destiny was shot and killed by Derek but they don't blame anyone because she was planning on killing and destroying Damien.  Thinking about it, that is why she never like me, she wanted Damien to be dead and suffer and she found out I made Damien happy. When Miss Daisy left, I was about to sleep, it was already almost 11pm when Drex walks in. Why is he here, I can't be alone with him, what if he blame me for the death of Destiny, his daughter.

"Can I talk to you?" He ask and I nodded. "I know you might not like me for hating you and destroying your relationship with Damien but after everything happens I'm grateful for saving my sons and if you too have any relationship in the future I will approve. You showed your loyalty to my son even when he hurt you and with Destiny's death, I don't hold it against you." I was shock but manage to say thank you to him before he left and right after I fall asleep.

Today was graduation, this past couple of days Damien has been distance, I wanted to talk to him but his always busy. Derek explained to me more of what happen after I got shot. Luke has been amazing being my best friend and taking care of me while I recover. He flirt once in a while but i know it was innocent flirting but Damien doesn't think so, since every time he sees me and Luke together he seem angry with jaw clenched and fist on his side.

"Luke Montreal" claps "John Nixon" claps "Cali Parker" I walk across the stage to handshake and grab my diploma. I smile and wave at my "family" sitting on the audience. "Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the graduating class of 2016." Our principal announced and everyone stands up clapping and cheering.

I ran to my "family" and gave them a hug one by one while they congratulate me. "Cali, we did it, congrats baby girl. I love you." Luke said while running up to me and gave me a hug as I watch Damien his more red than a tomato, I tried to ignore it and I thank Luke and give him a slap on the chest. "I don't know why you say 'I love you' when Damien is there. His getting pissed." I told him but he just shrugged and walks to Miss Daisy and Drex to handshake. I carry Kate while I see Derek trying to calm Damien.

Where at the house for my graduation dinner, I told them I didn't want a big party so we're just having dinner with everyone including Luke. After I saw my friends they all left, they're going to pack and get ready for there backpacking to Europe for the summer. There going to different colleges and as for me and Luke we're attending the one close by home since I didn't want to be away from Kate and for Luke he needed to watch over his gang since his officially the leader. I'm not too happy with it because I don't want anything bad happen to him but he assures me that with the alliance with Drex gang, Luke's group will not be involved in any "major illegal" area but I told him I don't want to know any details since I'm trying to keep Kate safe and he agrees not to mention about his gang.

"I bet if looks can kill I'll be six feet under by now." Luke whispered in my ear and I look at him confused then I turn to look at Damien glaring at Luke. What is his problem, his been so angry lately, aren't they supposed to be working together. I shake my head "you need to keep your distance, I think his jealous, I been trying to talk to him but his always busy." I whisper back and that's when a glass shattered. Everyone turn to see Damien holding a broken champagne glass cup. Mary ran up to clean the mess and I look him his eyes, his fuming in anger. I stand up to walk around to see his hand but he pulls away and walks out. I sighed loudly and walk out after him.
