"Io, where are we going?" I question for the 30th time today.

"It's not too far off anymore, Rain."

She had taken us so far away from civilization. It took us 7 days to get here. I think at one point I had to shift for two days straight while she was a small snake wrapped around me and just run for miles on end. I had no clue where we were going.

We did stop by at a town to get some food rations, which we successfully put into my little cube along with my books.

Where did we get the money you may ask?

Io took (stole) money from my mother's room. It included her old jewelry, money, debit cards, credit cards, my passport, birth certificate, and other important documents that she had put in to a bag and then put into my little cube. I also had my money that I had saved for years.

"Hellooo? Are you okay master? You seem spaced out." She chirped in a wondering voice bringing me out of my thoughts about us being thieves.

Oh god. We're thieves.

"No, we're not. Technically, it does belong to you." I did not think I had spoken it out loud.

She inched towards to me.

I didn't even notice how close she was to me until I looked down and saw that our bodies were practically micro-millimeters away from each other.

I really tried hard to get her nude body out of my head, but it was hard. I mean, if Giselle and I had stayed closer together, our bond would have been much stronger, which would have caused me to stray away from thoughts on other females.

Could you blame me? My mate didn't want me and Io had a beautiful face and her body was just so-

I need to get those thoughts out of my head. They are not healthy! She's my familiar, passed down to me through my blood line. It's sick to have thoughts like that, even if she's undeniably attractive.

When I looked back down at her, I saw that familiar smirk of hers. It reminded me so much of Giselle's. It looked as though she was holding back a giggle.

"Were you having naughty thoughts, Rain?" Her words were uttered so seductively, I almost moaned. How can a woman be so inhumanly beautiful?

Just like Giselle?

I stepped back a few inches.

"We should keep walking," I told her while tearing my eyes off her.

She turned back to the trail, with the same smug look on her face. I almost growled in frustration. Women are so confusing.

Damn my life.

-------------------------------

It was about two hours before we had reached… the middle of nowhere. It was just an empty space in a large forest.

"Io?"

"Yes?"

"What is this place?"

"The place where you will be reborn." She sated simply, like she wasn't crazy at all.

"Do you mind repeating that?"

"Rain, this is the place where you will be reborn." She stood up and dug in to her pocket to pull out a wrapped up object. The shape looked familiar-

She unwrapped it to reveal the same silver blade my mother had used on me. I did a double-take to make sure I was seeing right.

"Io?"

I slowly backed away, but something stopped me in my tracks. My body just froze, as if a force wouldn't let me move. Then I realized my wolf took control of my body.

What are doing?!

He didn't answer.

"Rain, calm down. I will only strike you, where you need to be struck. Understand? I promise after today, today this blade will never hurt you. Your life will change forever. The memories hidden in your mind will be revealed. Your mental and emotional capacity will increase. Everything will change, Rain, whether you like it or not."

I really wasn't processing what she was saying, all I could think of was the pain I would feel.

I couldn't move. I never knew my wolf had this much control over me. I felt so weak and pathetic. I could feel myself deteriorating.

Io hugged me. "Just this one last time, you will suffer, I promise," she whispered. "You won't feel any massive mental or physical pain after this. Though it will take your body a long time adjust."

Her voice sounded so sad.

The next thing I knew the silver knife was pressed on to my lower back and I heard a demon-like shrill scream, only to come to realize it was me.

"You will finally remember what has been taken away from you…"

Giselle POV

Something was blocking me off from Rain. I couldn't feel even the tiniest bit of his presence through our bond. He was still alive though. That much I knew.

Suddenly, everything  seemed like the bond was just snapped by a pair of pliers.

What the hell?!

What was that? My wolf was at a panic. She couldn't sense our mates' whereabouts on Earth. For the first time I sensed her frustration.

He couldn't be dead. We'd be in immediate pain if he had died, since our bond was still intact.

I'm sorry.

Am I just hallucinating, or did I just hear a woman's voice in my head?

It's best if you and Rain do not contact each other for a while.

Who the hell are you to tell me that?  I was either crazy or there really was a woman in my head.

I am not really all that upset for taking your mate. He deserves better.

I growled. What you damn little bi-

Well this is goodbye, until we meet. She cut off the contact until I felt nothing.

I didn't know what the hell was going on, but that damned woman was going to pay hell for this…
