CHAPTER ELEVEN:
SON

- Jihee -

The doorbell disturbed our moment, and he let out a frustrating groan after looking back. I thought he would go and check who was it, but he ignored it and continued his job right below my collarbone. It felt so good that I had to let out a moan.

"J-Jimin."

But the person at the door began to get impatient and attacked the doorbell by ringing it nonstop. "I think it's urgent, " I slightly pushed him, having him stumble back a little, and he was not glad about it.

"I'll go and check who is it, " I arranged my messy hair and dress to rush to the door.

There stood a woman right in front of the door; someone familiar, and had me confused by her presence here this late. "Where's my son?" she rolled her eyes on me and walked in without permission. I followed her in.

"What are you doing here this late, Mrs—" I paused with no idea what to call her.

"Mrs. Cho."

Right at the moment, her son walked out of the room. "What are you doing here?" he asked her with a straight face. "To meet my son. How are you doing?" she walked to him and attempted to touch his hair, but her hands got slapped away by his.

"Don't do 'son' with me, " he spatted.

"I missed you, " and there she made another attempt to hug him but he stepped back.

"But I don't."

All I could see in his face was anger and pain. "So how's it going with your fourth husband? I hope he will be the last one, " he bit his lips, trying to control the rage that had been suppressed inside him for years.

"I really missed you."

A scoff left his mouth after hearing those words. "You didn't think of me when you left me and dad for another man when I was only 5, " he was breaking inside and I could see it.

"Can you not bring this up all the time?"

"LEAVE!" he shouted at her.

"You don't talk to your mom like that—" I got cut off by his shout.

"SHUT UP!"

It caused my tear to well up in my eyes, making my vision blurry, but I could see the pain in his mother's eyes until she pulled off a smirk right at the moment my eyes met hers. "Your girl's lipstick is smudged, " she pointed at my lips and I pursed them together.

"SO?" he raised his voice at her again.

"I can clearly see what you were doing just before I arrived. Did I disturb you?"

I had no idea where this thing was going but it surely made me feel uncomfortable, and I looked down to my feet.

"Yes, you did."

"A relationship with no love. Have you ever wondered why is she even staying with you? If there is no love, for sure only one thing is left. Lust, " those unnecessary words caused my tears to roll down.

I expected my man to say something at this moment, but he stayed silent.

"You hate me, right? Let me tell you this. The day this girl finds someone who fucks her better than you, she will leave you. Mark my words."

This person standing beside me still had his lips sealed as he looked at me and I looked away to hide my tears. Not even wasting a single second, he dragged his mother out of the place and pulled out of the apartment.

"SHE IS NOT LIKE YOU, " I could hear him shout before he came back and closed the door.

I wiped her tears first and pulled her into my embrace to let her calm from what happened earlier. A smile full of pain was what she showed off. I carried her to the room and laid her down on the bed.

"It hurts so much, " I heard her mumbles.

"Bab—"

"You know I love you, right?" she asked.

"I know, " no doubt on it.

"What if I decide to leave?" she asked.

It caused my heart to skip a beat and a tiny tear instantly fall off my eyes. "Shut up! You promised to stay, " I reminded her, and she sighed, followed by mere silence.

"It was a joke, " she laughed, and my heart calmed down.

"Mind helping me with the zipper?" she stood up and walked to the closet.

That joke seemed a bit real to be a joke, and I had no idea whether to laugh at it or not. I recalled how I got scared of those few words she said and reminded myself that it was a joke. I was busy with these thoughts when I was called for help again, so I went for it.

"It's so difficult to unzip, " I heard the complaint and walked to give her a hand.

My hand of help proceeded to wrap my arms around from behind. "I'm sorry for what my mom said, " I apologized since it definitely hurt her, even though she acted cool with that joke.

"I asked you to help me."

The change of topic reminded me of the job I came to do here, so I began to unzip her dress, but it got stuck. I tried forcibly to the point that it nearly tore. "I think I need to tear off the dress, " I suggested.

"It's an old dress anyway."

I tore the dress enough for her to get out of it, and quickly changed my clothes at the time she was putting on her nightwear. I carried her in my arms to bring her to the bed and hug her to sleep.

"I know how to walk."
