A/N AmazingMichael requested this. I'm sorry if it's shitty (it is, so beware)

Evan opened the apartment door, holding it for Connor, who carried the cage inside and placed it in a corner. "Good lord," Connor grunted and slumped on the couch. Evan chuckled, sitting next to his fiancé and placing their new pet on his lap. The dog had already warmed up to Evan on the car ride home, and he leaned into Evan's chest and the boy scratched his ear.

After hours of bickering at the shelter, they had finally agreed to get a dog. When they got to the shelter, (after some more arguing,) they finally agreed on the perfect dog.

Say hello to the new member of the Hansen-Murphy family.

Now all he needed was a name.

Connor went to pet him, but the dog pulled away. Evan chuckled, and Connor grunted in disappointment. "Just give it time," Evan explained, taking Connor's hand in his free one. "I read online it can take them 8 weeks for a puppy to get used to a new home. And it will take him much longer to be brave enough to even look at you."

Connor sighed, rolling his eyes. "Okay, fine. So what should we do now?"

The puppy went to lick Evan's face and he giggled. "What about a name? Oh! Maybe like Oak or..."

"If you want to name it a plant you might as well just name it Weed," Connor smirked and Evan slapped his arm playfully.

"Fine, no tree names...um...how about...Acorn? That sounds cool..." Evan looked at Connor and the taller boy shook his head vigorously.

"Is there anything else you like other than plants? What about Mario? Bam! Mario, done. See? He even likes it," Connor gestured to the puppy, who was finally looking at him. Or, rather Connor's dark sweatshirt. But it was a start.

"Bowser is cute though! Or Toad, come on Connor, Toad is an adorable name."

"What about...Michelangelo? Or Raphael? Oh, that's a good one, Raphael, yeah," Connor crossed his arms and smiled triumphantly, but Evan shook his head.

"No, it's too hard to say every time we need to get his attention," Evan thought for a minute. "What if we just ask Jared?" He went to pull out his phone, but Connor stopped him.

"Oh, please no, he'll just name it Bathbomb or something, then the dog will answer, and we'll be stuck calling him Meme," Evan nodded his head, Connor was right. "I'm still on about Mario. It's a cute name, I think."

Just then, Evan sat up, and the unnamed puppy yelped in surprise. He instantly apologized, stroking the dog's head, then looked at Connor. "How about we name him Shelter? Get it? Because we got him at an animal shelter?" Evan smiled at his great idea, but Connor face palmed.

"Really Evan? Shelter? What could possibly be worse than naming a dog Shelter?" Connor shook his head, but the dogs had other ideas. He crawled off of Evan's lap onto Connor's, leaping up to lick his face.

"I think he likes your name choice," Evan guessed.

"Shelter? Really, dude? That's what you want?" Connor looked right into the puppy's eyes, and he licked Connor's face again. Connor sighed. "Fine, I guess you're name is Shelter. It's actually kind of growing on me a little bit."

Evan smiled, and the dog licked Connor again. Connor wiped his face. "He is a very cute dog."

Oh my lord, it's short haired Mike. He looks so different...or maybe that's because he's younger.
