Attempt

Ka Suo and Yan Da just stepped into the palace when they saw the other leaders of the tribes and soldiers going all over the place.

"Prince Ka Suo!" Liao Jian said going near the duo.

"What's going on?" Ka Suo asked, brows frowning.

"There was an assassination attempt on the king."

Yan Da gasped at that. Her hold on Ka Suo tightened.

"Where is Shi?"

"In the throne room with your parents, Your Highness. I have to go." Liao Jian said, leaving the two.

The two quickly went to the throne room. Hearts beating in fear and worry.

Inside...

"Shi!" Ka Suo called out. In an instant, he was at the king's side.

"Ge." Shi answered in surprise. He thought they were supposed to come back after two days more.

"Are you alright? Liao Jian told us what happened." Ka Suo said, looking at Yan Da who was looking at the king in worry. Shi gave her a small smile.

"I'm fine. He didn't succeed but... Xuan Ta isn't so lucky."

"Xuan Ta?" the other repeated.

"What happened exactly?" the former king of the ice tribe asked.

"We were talking then the assassin came out of nowhere accompanied by a black mist."

Ka Suo frowned, looking down. "It's the black mist again. What is it exactly?"

Yan Da who was listening couldn't help but remember what happened to her last night. Unconsciously, her body trembled in fear.

"Yan Zhu?"

"Yan Zhu?" Ka Suo repeated again when he didn't get an answer. "What's wrong?" He asked, seeing the other tremble. Shi was looking at her in worry too.

"I- I saw it too." Yan Da admitted. "The black fog..."

Ka Suo went to her, holding her close.

"It tried to kill me last night in my sleep." She continued, making Ka Suo hold her tighter and Shi growl in anger and protectiveness.

The former king and the former queen exchanged a knowing look.

"Ka Suo, why don't you take Yan Zhu in her room? We'll tell Huang Tuo to follow you when they'll come back."

Ka Suo nodded, leaving the room with Yan Da.

Ka Suo was quiet. He could feel the anger boiling inside of him. Last night.... He closed his eyes not wanting to let his anger get the best out of him.

"Yan Zhu, why didn't you tell me. Is this the reason why you wanted to come back?"

"I thought that it was only a dream." Yan Da told him honestly. "But why did it want to kill me too?"

Ka Suo held her close. "Damn it. We (him and Shi) almost lost you last night. Yan Zhu, if I'm not here, stay with Shi or if Shi is busy too. Stay with Huang Tuo, please."

"Ka Suo..."

"Promise me." He said seriously, pleading. They couldn't lose her.

Yan Da nodded. "I promise."

*knocks*

Yan Da smiled, knowing who it was. "Come in Huang Tuo."

Hearing the permission, Huang Tuo entered the room. He quickly went to her, hugging her tightly.

Yan Da's eyes soften, pulling the other closer into her arms. "I'm alright." She said, running her fingers through his hair. She could feel him tremble. "I'm sorry for worrying you this much."

"You better." Huang Tuo said, letting her go. "Do you know how my heart almost stopped when I heard that you were almost killed!? I thought... I'd... Yan Zhu you're a family to me. Please...." Don't leave me alone. He silently continued. Yan Da ruffled his hair.

"Don't worry. Jie wouldn't leave you without any notice." She said, chuckling. Huang Tuo frowned at that... but he didn't delve into it. If she plans on leaving at least she would tell him.

"Sit down. I'll check on you." He then said.

Ka Suo watched them silently. Smiling when he saw the bond they have with each other.
