Shiro
Sometimes it's a normal hand hold, with your fingers interlocked, while other times your fingers stay seperate. It really just depends on what you two want to do and whether any of the other paladins are going to laugh at you.
Lance

Lance wants the universe to know you're his, so he wraps an arm around your shoulder and lets his hand hang down for you to hold onto. When he does this, he has a reason to be really close to you, so you can bet he does it whenever possible.
Keith

Since Keith isn't big on the whole showing affection thing, it'd be something discreet. That's why, when holding hands, you don't hold hands. You lock your pinkies together instead so it's really more like holding fingers. You occasionally swing your intertwined fingers to embarrass him (because it makes it obvious to the others and he doesn't like that).
Hunk
It's like a normal hand hold, but more passive. Like you're just two friends chilling together, neither of you desperate for attention from the other. Either of you could simply walk up and clasp hands with the other and nothing would drastically change now that you're holding the other's hand (I mean, why would it?).

Not being from Earth, and thus not knowing how to properly hold hands, you took a guess on what you thought you were supposed to do and threaded your fingers in between his. You didn't wrap your fingers around the back of his hand to make it a normal hand hold, however. So, that's how your signature hand hold came to be.
