there once was a girl
she weighed quite a lot
nobody told her it was wrong
because really it's notbut then she got to middle school
and other people came too
they said fat was bad
this girl never knewthey laughed and they joked
said you had to be thin
or else you couldn't be 'pretty'
you wouldn't fit inthis girl felt sad
but she didn't avow
she knew she must change
she just didn't know howshe looked up online
how to be stick thin
found a thing called anorexia
she thought it was 'in'but anorexia's not a trend
nor a choice or a game
it's a mental disorder
which is not quite the samethe girl understood
she knew the risks and the danger
she went home for summer
swore she'd be a healthy teenagerthen seventh grade came around
health class took up her time
she had to log all her food
it became quite her primeeveryday she would check
to make sure she didn't eat too much
no one else was like her
it was a psychological crutchshe looked on social media
how to healthily tuneup
but 'anorexia tips'
we're the first thing to come upthis girl thought to herself
she'd follow those tips
she knew it was wrong
but it became a mental eclipseher thoughts were taken over
by a calorie counter
'no more than 500 a day' she thought something she couldn't surmountershe'd exercise after school
then again before bed
staying up way past midnight
just to do it again the morning aheadshe looked at the scale
became obsessed with its numbers
losing hours from the day
and slumbers upon slumbersher parents soon noticed
her pants were getting bigger
they asked her what she was doing
"just eating healthier" she'd reply, along with a sniggerother people noticed too
she wore oversized clothes
she'd cover herself up
because her growth had frozeher period was gone
so was her mental stability
her body decayed
as did her viabilityher parents took her in for a checkup
and that's when they found
her blood wasn't normal
and she'd dropped over ten poundsthey forced her to eat
they watched her every move
they said no exercising ever
but she didn't improveshe'd throw up the food
that they made her eat
and exercise in secret
she tried to be discretesoon enough she got better
she began to improve
she realised she was wrong
got a better attitudethe hours of exercising
turned into just one
and she'd eat the food on her plate
without feeling guilty when she was donehere narrow face became fuller
her ribs turned to abs
her stick legs got more muscle
and her arms now have 'flabs'but that's all okay
she is healthier now
she smiles and laughs more
and is happier all aroundsometimes she gets worried
and reverts to old ways
but she's working to get better
she's improving day by dayso if you're eating ever changes
come to me please
i know how to help
because that girl is me
