10. Before You Came Into My Life

[Zayn’s POV]

I woke up in a room in Liam’s castle that was far too big for my taste, but quite luxurious and comforting, and stretched out as the sun shined brightly into my eyes. I squinted as I realized that this was a new day and, you know what, I’m going to make this my story. Screw that gypsy wench. I will take control.

I huffed as I swung myself out of bed and put some gusto in my step. I had to just straight out tell Liam that we were trapped in this delusional story. I know he wouldn’t believe me, but I had to find some way to make him believe me.

“Really Zayn?”

I jumped as I looked around to see where the voice had come from. To my knowledge, I was still the only person in the room. No one was here besides me.

“In the mirror you fool.”

I looked towards the mirror to see the gypsy’s head floating around looking smug as usual. It’s like she thinks she’s always won. I just don’t get her.

“You,” I snarled as I strode towards the mirror. “Blind?! Really? Like, you couldn’t do something remotely simple?”

“Well is there anything wrong with you?” She asked raising an eyebrow as she feigned concern.

“No, I suppose not.”

“Then why are you complaining? Show Liam that you’re more than just a pretty face.”

I gaped in surprise as she said those words. I hadn’t really told anyone I felt that way. I didn’t really ever feel like guys wanted to talk to me for anything other than my outward appearance. I mean, I’ve been told several times I’m a handsome guys, but I guess it’s been one time too many.

I’m not ungrateful for the way I look, but it’s made me wary about seeing others. I try to see people for more than the appearance, but rather everything they have to offer. I wish people would see that in me as well.

“You know, Zayn, you’re not very hard to read,” she said as I blushed. “I guess it’s a good thing I made Liam blind then.”

“But your name-”

“Really? You’re still on that mess?”

“Well you said I had to know it before I could leave this weird story thing!” I said exasperatedly. I was getting tired of her mind games. I just wanted to get out of here… well kind of. I mean, I didn’t mind being around Liam all the time.

“I did, didn’t I?” She said thoughtfully. “Well, aren’t I indecisive.”

“Yes! You really are!”

“Well maybe everything will fall into place eventually,” she said with a sly smile.
