[Chapter Nine] Mari

Chapter Nine – Mari

I'm not going to lie; hooking up in public like that was hot and I wouldn't mind doing it again, one little noise and people would have known what we were doing in there. The next day I got a text saying he wanted a school girl outfit for Tuesday and I rolled my eyes and grabbed the sluttier one of the two and tossed it in a bag with all the other shit I wore with it and went back down stairs to see her doing her homework which made me a very proud mommy.

I took her to her dance class and I sat there and watched with a smile as she did the routine, she was a natural. When she was finished I grabbed her hand and she skipped to the car

"How about some ice cream?" I asked her and her face lit up

"Before dinner?" she asked and I nodded

"As long as you eat dinner." She agreed immediately. I took her to her favorite place and let her get two scoops and we sat at a table while she got it all over her little face.

"Thank you mommy." She beamed up at me

"You're welcome and you're a mess silly girl." I wiped her face when we got home I made a salad and some burgers for the two of us and then took her to the park near the house to play for a little bit before bed.

She made friends on the playground and begged me to come push her on the swings and then for me to come swing with her.

She grabbed my hand and tiredly walked back home with me and I sat in there with her while she took a bath and played with her bath toys with her and wrapped her towel around her when she got out. She picked her jammies for the night and I tucked her in

"Mommy will you read me a story?" she asked me

"Of course, what book?" I asked her

"Can you read the secret garden?" she asked me

"That's a little long."

"But you can read a little tonight and then more until It's done." She protested and I nodded as I grabbed the book and curled up in bed with her. She leaned against my side and I started at the beginning.

I read until she fell asleep and marked the page. I laid with her for a little while and ran my hands through her hair until I got tired and I moved to my room to sleep too.

I woke up in the morning with Lex curled up in bed with me and I smiled at her and pushed her curly hair out of her face.

"Lex, time to get ready for school." I called softly to her and she mumbled in her sleep and turned away. I smiled and looked at the clock. It was early so I decided to go and made breakfast. I was making stuffed French toast, eggs and bacon when she drug herself down stairs

"Morning sleepy head." I kissed her forehead when she sat at the table

"Good morning mommy." I gave her some chocolate milk and put a plate in front of her, she was usually a morning person and something was off about her but I didn't know what.

"Did you have a bad dream?" I asked her

"No I just wanted to sleep with you."

"Okay." I forgot the syrup so I got up and brought it to her.

"Mommy, why didn't daddy love me?" she asked and I dropped my fork

"What?" I asked her

"Someone said that because my daddy isn't around he doesn't love Me." she said sadly and my heart broke for her because what was I supposed to say to that. She looked so confused and she didn't deserve what that child said, a lot of kids are raised by single parents.
