Do you remember your first love?

"Taiyou, hold my hand."

Shota's voice was soft like his smile and everything which surrounded him. He never got angry, even when he had all the right reasons to be.

The dried tears stung a Sunny opened her eyes to her first day back to school after her suspension.

Shota was gone, though Sunny was unaware of the circumstances of his disappearance; she now knew who the boy who haunted her dreams was.

It's not that she forgot him, but every time she woke up, the boy's face vanished like a fleeting memory.

How could the boy Sunny was so eager to see every summer slip out of her memory?

Though Sunny did not understand her feelings, the desire to always be with the boy was intense.

When Shota held her hand, freckles blossomed on Sunny's face like a heat rash.

Sunny pulled her knees towards her and buried her head on them as she realized how five years old Sunny adored Shota.

Shota Matsumoto was the first boy she ever loved, and the girl's heart broke as regret sliced it into two.

Never would Sunny have the occasion to tell Shota what he represented to her.

The emotion swayed inside her like a boat adrift, and though Sunny was not on a ship deck, she felt sick while recalling everything Haruka told her.

According to him, it was her fault. Even if Sunny refused to believe him, something told her Haruka wasn't lying.

What hurt the girl more was feeling guilty about the feelings she had for Shun; she liked him when she believed he was Shota.

The emotion did not disappear; now, she was aware of his true identity. Instead, it seemed to intensify, making Sunny ashamed of herself.

Sunny was cautious; she tried her best to hide the sentiments she harbored. No one knew, not even Madoka. She also managed to fool Asano San, not showing how it affected her to know Asano spent the night with Shun.

Atashi was satei desu [I'm the worst]

Sunny never strived to appear perfect or without personality flaws. She was just a girl who had no reason to build jealousy or other emotions, making people seem unpleasant.

Here for the first time, Sunny disliked the girl in front of the mirror. Envy, anger, and frustration all these feelings welled inside Sunny, and she hated it.

Sunny envied Asano San for the proximity she had with Shun; she wished to help the boy, now she wondered if her motivations were all innocent.

The girl questioned her feelings; it was wrong to fancy Shun when she first loved his brother.

"Sunny isogu [Sunny hurry], you'll be late."

"Hai, grandma."

°°°

Sunny was glad to hear her grandmother's call, which saved her from sinking into psychosis, and she was even happier to see Yuta and Madoka waiting for her at the bus stop.

"Ohayo, Sunny."

"Ohyayo minna."

The trio climbed on the bus all smiled up.

"Perhaps we should buy you some Tofu at the Kombini," Yuta said.

The early morning didn't stop him from throwing one of his corny jokes.
