Vanoss

I play with Delphinium while we wait for Delirious to get into the car. I play peek-a-boo with Del, making him giggle. The noise reminds me of my vision and how he actually started growing feathers. Will my vision actually be right this time? Is Del more owl than he is raccoon?

Delirious finally staggers out of the house, and he’s carrying a little girl with him. I instantly get out of the car, “Who is this?” I stare down at the little girl. Her hair a very dark black for her age. Her eyes are a beautiful blue, just like Delirious’s. “I found her in the basement, lighting little fires with her fingers.” I gawk at Delirious, “What? Just with her fingers?” Delirious nods. The little girl touches my forearm, it instantly heats up and suddenly flames rise on my arm. I pat the flames out as the little girl giggles at my trouble. “What’s your name?” I question and wait for an answer from the tiny girl. She turns to Delirious and then to me. “I,” she starts, but then shakes her head. Tears form in her eyes. I immediately start rubbing her head, “No, it’s okay. We’ll give you a name.” She shakes her head violently and she puts her hand on my wrist and heat rises and my head starts throbbing. I stagger backwards and the world collapses.

Delirious

The little girl cries as Vanoss falls to the ground. “What did you do?” I set her down and fall to my knees beside the unconscious owl. She approaches him and pats his head. I stare at her weirdly. Her wet blue eyes stare into mine, “Fire isn’t my only power,” she confesses and rubs her eyes. It's the first whole sentence I've heard from her.

Vanoss

Two visions in one day, what the hell is going on?

I wander through the house Delirious and I had just claimed, but it is alive. Lights are on, noises are coming from the T.V, and footsteps sound around the house. I peek into the living room, and static is on the T.V. In the kitchen stands a tall woman with long black hair as dark as the night sky outside. She turns to look at someone. A man suddenly approaches her and kisses her softly on the lips. His hands move down to the large belly forming life inside. They both smile and lean on each other’s foreheads.

Suddenly I’m in the basement where the same woman is giving birth. Her hands are in flames and when the father grabs her one hand it stops burning. Water comes out of his hands, putting out the flame. Screaming is heard in the basement as a little baby is born. The father smiles, “It’s a girl.”

I’m in the living room again, and the girl Delirious found is sitting on the floor playing with wooden blocks. She barely has any hair, but you could tell it was going to be a pitch black. Suddenly her hands are flying in the air and water is sprinkling out of them. She giggles out loud, but suddenly her feet catch on fire. She starts screaming. Both parents rush to her. “Aww, baby it’s okay. It’s just your powers,” the mother’s soothing voice coos. “Well, your grandmother did say about how the baby gets a power from each parent, and then one of their own.” The father smiles down at the baby, “I wonder what her’s will be.”

Next thing I know I’m outside of the house with the father. He causes heavy rain on the people trying to come toward the house. They’re wearing black hazmat suits with the letters HLR on them. Little water sprouts attack most of them, but one of them pulls out a gun real quick. The water stops as the father falls to the ground. Water not able to heal the shotgun wound at his chest.

The mother and daughter are hidden in the basement. The daughter is now the age she is now. She puts her daughter under the little fort. She gives her the pink blanket they made the fort with. She kisses the daughter’s forehead, “I love you Miyo. Mommy loves you and always will.” Her mother leaves and marches outside toward the Humane Labs people. She steps beside her dying husband. She screams with tears in her eyes and makes the whole yard go up into flames. Miyo however sits in the basement, waiting for her mommy to come back.

I wake up on the hardwood floor of the house, “Holy shit.” I catch my breath as Delirious sprints into the room. “Are you alright?”

“You know on that movie Twilight we were watching together that one day?” I wait for Delirious to answer. He slowly nods and walks over and helps me up. “You mean like their daughter?”

“Yes, I saw her past…” I stare at him, his blue eyes curious, “it was terrible…”

“What did you figure out?”

“Her parents were like us, superheros. And I figured out something else.”

“What?”

“Our son will get our powers and then one of his own.”

“Wow,” Delirious exclaims and takes it all in. “So, what should we do with uh, the girl?”

“Her name is Miyo, and I think we should keep her for ourselves.” Delirious stares at me and grabs my hand, “Evan, where’s her parents.”

“We’re her parents now Delirious. Her parents died fighting Humane Labs.”

“Wait?! Humane Labs? They were here?”

“Yes, but from the vision she gave me they haven’t been here for a whole year, maybe a year and a half.”

Delirious sighs, “That’s not helping my nerves Vanoss.” My nickname gives me an idea. I turn to my love and squeeze his hands, “Jonathan Dennis?”

“Woah, my almost full name? Yeah?” I kiss him on the lips, “Let’s get married and switch everything up in our lives.” Delirious’s face turns a bright red. He smiles, “Evan Fong, will you marry me?”

I kiss him long and hard on the lips, “Fuck yeah. Now let’s go get our children. We have a small wedding to plan out, and some names to change.”
