Making a surprise visit to the District Attorney Office, Brooke walks into Royce's office.

.

Brooke: [in a very sultry voice] hello Mr. Garner.

Royce: [surprised] hey Brooke, what are you doing here. [frantically getting up and looks to see if anyone is around]

Brooke: she probably already knows.

Royce: you think so?

Brooke: let's go find out? Come one. [Royce stops Brooke from leaving]

Royce: she's been cleaning out her office.

Brooke: what, why? [rushing to her mother's office, Royce follows her. Knocking on her mother's already opened office door]

... hey Mom.

Paula: [smiles, then stops packing her boxes] oh wow, this is a pleasant surprise, my firstborn coming to my office, to see me I presume.

Brooke: [laughing because she had a feeling that knew she hadn't come to see her] I have tomorrow off, so I decided to come home and see the people most important to me.

Paula: that's lovely to hear, did you hear that Royce? [quickly glancing at Royce, then looks back at Brooke]

... hopefully, you didn't get another speeding ticket, I regret the day, I let you talk me into getting you that sports car.

Brooke: [smiles] Well, if I get this position in Atlanta, I will be able to get something less powerful.

Paula: yes, please something less, anything less ... or maybe just stop speeding, but then again, you will have to fly from Atlanta to him [turns to Royce]

... or you will be flying there to see her.

Brooke: [laughing] I knew you knew. See, I told you she knew [looking at Royce]

Paula: hmm ... why was there a need to hide this? Four months is a long time, sooo many tickets, for the both of you. Needing someone to help you both, get them taken care of or reduced, and along the same route and on the same weekend sometimes. Brooke, my adult daughter, and Royce, my best prosecutor. I'm not even sure why you two would feel the need to hide your relationship. Is it a relationship? [Brooke and Royce both nod, Paula sighs]

... then why hide it, did you think I would have objected?

Brooke: I didn't want you to put any pressure on us or treat him any differently.

Paula: when have I ever put pressure on you?

Brooke: in subtext Mom, your pressure is subtle but very loud and clear.

Paula: [smiles] help me pack please, Mr. Garner, can you bring this box to my car? [handing him the keys]

Royce: sure thing.
