Chapter 57

"Luiz, what are you doing here?", I asked him surprised.

"Open the door.", he said.

He came to the main door and I opened for them.

"Why are you here?", I asked.

Without even replying to my question he jumped inside with a box in his hand.

"What the hell? My grandma is sleeping.", I said.

"That's why I didn't ring the doorbell.", he said.

"How do you know that this is my room?", I asked him.

"I always pick you up. So I observed.", he said.

"Okay leave. My grandma will wake up.", I said.

"She wont wake up. She sleeps even while I come to pick you up in the morning.", he said.

"What do you want?", I asked.

"Happy Birthday!", he said.

"What?"

My birthday? I never knew on which day I was born. Then how come he knows?

"How do you know that today is my birthday?", I asked.

His expression turned sad.

"I saw your mom's death certificate. Then I cross verified from the hospital.", he said.

My mom died when I was born.

The thoughts brought tears in my ears.

"Shh don't cry.", he said.

"How did you get my mom's death certificate?", I asked.

"Mom has it. When your mom passed away, your dad completely lost it. He initially didn't believe it at all it seems. So my mom took care of all the formalities.", he said.

I could not stop crying any more.

They faced a lot!

Luiz came and hugged me. I didn't fight him this time. Instead, I let myself be in his arms.

"I told you not to cry anymore.", he said.

He cupped my face and wiped my tears off.

"I am sorry to bring that topic.", he said.

I sighed heavily.

We both sat on my bed.

"What is this?", I asked him.

He opened it and there was a very beautiful cake.

My eyes shone with surprise.

"It's wonderful!", I said.

"It's already twelve, cut it.", he said.

He lighted a small candle and I blew it. Then I cut the cake.

He sang the birthday song in a whisper.

Aww he looks so cute!

I placed the cake piece in his mouth and he did the same to me.

Then we wiped our hands with the tissues.

He put his hands in his inner pocket of blazer and took out a red rose.

"I love you Lara.", he said.

I smiled. But I didn't respond to him.

"Please take it.", he said.

I took it.

He smiled and placed his hand in another pocket.

He took out a velvet box and opened it.

There was a very beautiful diamond ring!

"Be mine.", he said.

"Luiz I told you that I need time.", I said.

"Merely accepting the ring will not get you in trouble baby. So have it.", he said.

"Okay.", I was about to take but he stopped me and held my hand.

He slipped the ring on my finger.

"Thank you.", he said.

"I should be the one saying that.", I said and chuckled.

In an instant, he hugged me.

I don't know why but I couldn't resist.

I placed my hands around him.

We stayed like that for minutes.

"You mean a lot to me Lara. Please come back to my life. I feel lost without you.", he said.

Tears of happiness rolled down my eyes.

He broke the hug and cupped my face.

"Please.", he said. Hurt was vivid in his eyes.

He wiped my tears.

He bent his face towards my face and our noses touched.

"Can I kiss you?", he asked me looking straight into my eyes.

Instead of replying him, I initiated the kiss.

He immediately responded and we were inseparable!

His hand gripped my waist and I held him tight.

We continued to kiss me for long which seemed like eternity.

I broke the kiss as I was running out of breath and my neck was aching due to his height.

I panted heavily and so did he.

My eyes travelled to the door and my eyes grew bigger in shock.

I pushed Luiz away and saw grand mom and her care taker at my door.

Shit! I left the door open.

I noticed something unusual.

My grand mom was angry and she was breathing hard.

Oh no! She is having wheezing again!

I ran and knelt in front of her.

"Grandma, are you okay?", I asked her worried.

Her eyes travelled from me to Luiz who was behind me.

"You... You.. just... get out.... of her.... life. How.... could you?", she said stuttering and breathing hard.

"Please control yourself. You are not well.", I told and held her palms.

"I am fine.", she shouted loudly.

She started having a difficulty to breathe. She was even closing her eyes.

"Oh god! Go get her inhaler.", I said to her caretaker.

"Its severe! Inhaler won't suffice. She needs a nebulizer. We need to rush her to the hospital now. Like right now!", Luiz said and carried her in his arms.

He immediately placed her in his car and I sat along with her.

Within few minutes, we were in the hospital.

Grandma was given a nebulizer immediately.

After sometime, she was back to being completely conscious.

"You brought her at the right time. Or else it would have been really difficult for us to save her.", the doctor said.

"Please come to my cabin sir.", he said to Luiz.

I sat next to her and held her hands between mine.

"I love you grandma. Please take care of yourself.", I said crying my heart out.
