His short stature was incomparable to his huge presence and overflowing confidence. That was who Nishinoya Yuu was, and you wouldn't change a thing about him.
As his significant other and someone taller than him, you often heard whispers of gossipers, commenting about your height difference. You hated the idle gossip, though you eventually learnt to ignore it. Haters will hate, and you didn't need to let outsiders affect your relationship.
Though you couldn't deny that it was difficult to bear the weight of their comments towards the start of your relationship. Nishinoya would laugh it off, telling you to ignore them. But you could tell that he too, was affected by it. Nishinoya had always been insecure about his height. He tried to hide it, but it was obvious that it hurt his ego knowing that he was shorter than most; shorter than you.
They say that love overcomes all obstacles.
A romantic notion, no doubt, but you wanted to believe that that idealistic saying bore some weight. And it did.
It was a gradual process, but you both slowly realised that others' opinion of you couldn't compare to the feelings you shared. From the shy touches to your first kiss; every moment with Nishinoya was exhilarating. Height didn't matter at all, because he still gave you a sense of security and the feeling of being loved. His brilliant personality was more than enough to make up for where he 'lacked' in height.
And whenever his confidence wavered and he once again fell prey to his insecurities, you would never fail to remind him - height doesn't matter.

An uncharacteristic sigh left his lips and the usual gleam in his eyes had dulled. The volleyball club measured everyone's height and Nishinoya found out that he barely grew at all.
Lunch break was nearly over, and you were walking up the stairs to go back to class with him when he sighed yet again. This time, you were determined to rid him of his negativity.
"Yuu," reaching out to catch his hand, you stopped him before could reach the main corridor where there'd be more students.
Nishinoya paused and turn around to face you, still standing a step above. And for once, he stood taller than you. Meeting your gaze, he asked, "Yeah?"
You could feel the callouses lining his hands and you slowly traced each of them. "You know that you're an amazing libero and a perfect boyfriend, right?"
A flush immediately rushed to his cheeks and he tried to hide his bashfulness but to no avail. "W-What's with that?!"
"Nothing," you laughed, tugging at his collar to pull him down to your height, giving him a quick kiss on the lips.
"Just wanted to remind you that height doesn't matter."
