 Chapter 29

…………………………………………………………………………………………..

RECAP:  ( catch up – I know it’s been a while )

marli discovers Trey is her mate,  they are forbidden to be together, Marli has become an Alpha of NY22 pack – though isn’t sure of what that means , Marli got into a fight with Kelly another  werewolf – NOW.

Driving together on a sunny afternoon, holding hands and laughing together. Trey grinned, glancing at the road before he leant into me slightly, letting his pure, clean scent wash over me and whispered,“Fact: I have no freaking idea why they call us Alphas” he admitted and I burst into giggles.

…………………………………………………………………………………………..

I couldn’t stop the smile that stretched over my face as I sat and watched Trey drive my car, his tanned forearms muscles shifting as he changed the gearshift or turned the steering wheel as he drove through town. The car seemed like an extension of him, and it was odd that it seemed so natural to me to look across and see him driving my car, the wind catcher attached to the mirror flying in the wind.  I know, I seem a little like I was doing the creepy – stalker- while- drooling- stare- but I was really trying to be inconspicuous and only looking for five seconds or so at a time.

I think.

It was pretty difficult not to stare or at least pinch myself when he looked across at me and gave me a lazy smile as he drove, his t-shirt being pushed against the contours of his very cut chest by the wind. It was weird to think he was mine. Or at least mine until he figures out what an internal nervous wreck I am around him.  He’d been filling me in on little facts I’d inconveniently missed out on, and I’d been filling him in on all the parts of his younger sisters ex- best friend that he never knew.

Trey wasn’t that interested in sports, except he told me that he played on an ice hockey team. I pictured him gliding around ice, the prefect mixture of grace and masculine strength. His favourite holiday was Fourth of July because of the Fireworks and I told him mine was a mix between Christmas and Halloween.

In reply Trey had turned to me, his green eyes cross-eyed as he drove and said “Hallowistmas?”

I was so shocked I nearly choked on my laughter, holding my sides.

He then revealed that his favourite colour was green, while I told him mine was yellow at the moment, explaining that it changes pretty regularly.“ You don’t wear any yellow.” Trey said.

“ Why would I wear yellow?” I asked, confused.

“ Marissa always wear this colour that she likes “- he snapped his finger as he tried to remember.

“ Turquoise?” I supplied with a knowing smile, knowing exactly what he was talking about. It’s her favourite colour and she used to wear it almost religiously – though maybe she doesn’t anymore. “ I’ve never been into that matchy, matchy clothing style.” I explained, looking down at my dark dress.

“ I don’t actually suit yellow, but it’s what I’ll definitely paint the front door of my first house in.” I suddenly felt stupid for telling him my little fantasy of one day owning a house with a sunshine yellow door. But Trey’s grin as he said “ I’ll have to remember that” made me smile so hard I had to look away before I cracked up in happy laughter.

I’ll have to remember that. He said it like he was planning on being there when I brought the paint.

Obviously, we both loved running and coincidentally our shared hobby had begun just after each of our sixteenth birthdays – that had earned me a knowing smile that had made my toes curl. It felt so good for someone else to know about my wolf. To just relax. My mind flashed back to the pitch-black wolf I had seen running like a blur through the woods.
