"Will, I'm sorry." Nico grabbed Will's arm before he could disappear into the lunch crowd.
"No, I'm sorry, I didn't actually hear the story, I was rash." Will told him. Nico took a deep breath.
"I'm not in love with you. I'm sorry but I just... don't see you that way. Could we remain friends?" Nico asked. Will seemed to slouch a little bit. Will was in love with Nico. He was hoping it was somehow a misunderstanding.
"I already told you. I'm alright with that." Will told Nico.
"Are you sure?"
"Of course. I can take a denial, you know." Will walked away quickly, sitting where he always did with his friends. He texted Kayla what happened, claiming that he was okay.
And conversation went on as normal. Nico glanced at Will frequently, of course, but everything was normal.
The tape of chaos was rewound. Everything was just fine for a good month or two. It was as though Will and Nico hadn't gotten together, like Will hadn't had his heart broken, like everything was back to normal. What normal used to be.
