Chapter 23
Rock

Acceptance.

That's what I've learned two years ago in order to keep my world spnning on the right track. I accepted that the world of others doesn't revolve on the same axis as mine. Well, scientifically, it does. But figuratively, it doesn't.

I thought there will be a drastic change in my life, but to my surprise, there were only a few. I admit that I was selfish before when it comes to the people I love dearly, but I realized that I can be selfish and selfless at the same time by letting them go and still loving them as time passes by.

They managed to fill the space in my life and keep it going.

I have my family who gives me guidance and support, my bestfriend who rarely contacts me but he still does (though I certainly understand that he's busy with his Masters and their land in England), and my three-year boyfriend who stayed beside me—loving me more than I could ever imagine.

"Tonight, we will have dinner with Mayor Valiente and his son at their mansion, Iarra. I want you to free your schedule," Mommy told me when we sat down at the dining table to eat breakfast.

Bahagya akong napatigil dahil mayroon kaming dinner mamaya ni Silver. He's working as a professor in BICC and he just got promoted as the department head in CE department, and we already planned to celebrate it tonight.

Mom raised her eyebrows. "Any valid reason for that, Iarra?"

"I already promised Silver that we're gonna eat dinner tonight to celebrate his promotion," I told my Mom.

"For sure, your dinner with him can be rescheduled. The Mayor invited us tonight because it's his only available time. He's a very busy person, Iarra. You can always meet up with that man since he's not that busy in life," Mom reasoned out.

"I know but I already gave him my word—"

"This is for our business, Iarra. Know your priorities!"

Only half of our business was named to me, while the other half was still on my mom's name. I didn't treat work like a responsibility, but more like a hobby.

"This will be very big once we have an agreement with the Valientes, Iarra. If you're really worth to handle our business, prove it to me."

When I was inside the office, I decided to message Silver.
