Forty-Three Days Before
...
"Wow. Our pay-checks never cease to amaze me."
Luna walked out of the bathroom, her slippers shuffling along the wooden floor as she made her way over to the dark blue couch, in the centre of the room. Her friend was splayed out on the upholstery, her slender long legs taking up the entirety of the space, as she lay lifeless with her arm across her eyes.
"... You were reading our pay-checks in there?"
Luna shoved Luise's legs off of the couch as she sat down, they landed with an oomph, as though they were independent of the woman's body. "I like reading optimistic things in the bathroom."
Luise uncovered her eyes, shooting her friend a death stare, "there's nothing optimistic about what we do."
"That's the spirit doctor."
Luna picked up the TV remote and started flicking through the channels, her mind numb, not exactly sure what she was looking for. The blonde next to her sighed heavily, "we worked... 49 hours this week."
"54 actually, remember the incident with the gang members."
Luise groaned into a pillow, her words coming out strained and muffled, "OMG how could I possibly forget!"
Luna scoffed as her roommate thrashed out her exhaustion on the pillow in her lap. She turned off the TV, giving up on the boring old movies and crappy soap operas. Turning to her friend, she blinked slowly before speaking, "... I want noodles."
The blonde slumped her shoulders in defeat, "so do I."
They nodded nonchalantly at each other before standing up and grabbing their coats, padding out of the apartment like two zombies in their pyjamas. Two zombies with a craving for Japanese cuisine, at 11pm on a Saturday.
