Hurt
Erika’s P.O.V.
“Mama, hindi natin hintay Dad?” Asked Seth as I tucked him and his twin brother in their beds.
“Saan Dad?” Asked Safe.
“No na. Looks like your Daddy’s going to go home late eh.” I kissed them both on their foreheads. “Don’t forget to pray ha? Mommy loves you both. Good night.” I said as I went out of their room.
Si Rein kanina pa tulog. Nakatulog siya while watching cartoons and I just asked her yaya to bring her to her room na. And same as for Baby Bliss.
Humiga na ako sa bed naming ni Matt but still, I can’t sleep. I wore my silk bathrobe over my pajamas and went to the living room to wait for him.
I looked at the clock and it says 11:00pm. Matt’s office hours was supposed to end at 7:00 pero until now, he’s not here. Kanina pa siya hinahanap ng mga bata and we haven’t received not even one text from him.
I was tired from taking care of the kids and my work at home pero ito padin ako, naghihintay. Kahit isang text o tawag man lang sana, okay na. Pero wala eh.
I tried calling his secretary pero naka off yung phone. I decided to call the office to see kung sino pa nandoon and luckily, someone answered pa.
“Hello? Krissele from head department. Good evening.” The girl from the other line answered. Sakto naman nay un yung department na nasa labas mismo ng office ni Matt.
“Hi. Good evening din. I just wanted to know kung nanjan pa si Matt?”
“Who’s this?” She asked me again.
“Erika, his wife.”
“Ayy, ma’am! Kanina pa po umalis kasama yung secretary niya pati po yung ibang collegues.” Biglang napataas kilay ko. Something isn’t right.
“Mga anong oras? Saan daw sila nagpunta?”
“Mga 7 po. Birthday po kasi ni Belle, yung secretary niya po tapos nagaya po sila lumabas.”
“Ah… okay. Thank you, Krissele.”
“Okay po Ma’am.” Binaba ko na yung phone.
Habang nakaupo ako sa couch naming, at habang tumatagal ang oras na wala pa si Matt, kung ano ano pumapasok sa isip ko. “Matino na si Matt at hindi niya na gagawin ang naiisip mo, Erika. Uuwi din siya. Maghintay ka lang.” Paulit-ulit kong sinasabi sa sarili ko hanggang hindi ko na napansin na nakatulog na ako…
