"STUPID FELIX, FEEDING ME STUPID COFFEE." JISUNG GRUMBLED, KICKING PEBBLES ALONG the sidewalk as he continued his little stroll. Despite it being the ungodly hours of the night – he was a morning person, no judging – he was still wide awake because his best-friend insisted on drinking a few cups of coffee whilst playing their videogames earlier in the evening.
Now, he was paying the price.
He heaved a heavy sigh and turned to look at the sky, only to see the moon obscured by dark clouds. He whined slightly; the only thing he appreciated about the night were the stars and the moon lighting up his path.
He huffed, and returned his gaze to the dimly lit sidewalk. The only things helping him navigate through the darkness were the streetlamps that flickered every now and again, and despite his dislike of staying up late, he'd decided to make the most of his sleepless state.
At least tomorrow's – today's? – Saturday, he thought, swinging his hands slightly beside him. He couldn't help but think about Minho, the boy he'd always been too afraid to talk to. The more he thought about it, the cuter the boy looked, and – no. He thought firmly, shaking his head.
Stop it.
He sighed again, his lips settling into a deep frown. He hardly had the time to ponder over his thoughts because someone ran straight into him; or, well, more like walked into him. He staggered back slightly, his arms automatically reaching out to steady the boy.
He could barely see the face passed the hood, but he caught the sight of round glasses and a soft jaw line. He gasped when the boy looked up to meet his eyes, and his suspicions were confirmed.
He was more surprised by the red ringing around Minho's eyes than the fact that he was the one who ran into him. "Minho?" He questioned, tilting his head to the side. He'd always had a caring and kind nature, which he blamed his increasing worry for the other on.
"Are... are you okay?" His voice came out tight and airy – he was still slightly scared of the boy, despite himself – and he tried his best to smile gently, although he was sure it came out as a grimace.
Minho nodded wordlessly, attempting to walk around the boy, when rain suddenly started pelting down on their heads. Jisung let out a quiet squeal, immediately reaching for the older boy's wrist and dragged him towards the nearest shelter.
As soon as he realized what he'd done, he jumped away, letting go of Minho's wrist in the process. "I-I'm so sorry." He stuttered, nervously scratching the back of his nape. He was expecting to be yelled at, or at least glared at – he was not expecting a small smile coming from the boy.
From all the things he'd heard about Lee Minho, the most prominent was that he never smiled.
"It's... fine. I would've gotten drenched," he mumbled sheepishly, averting his eyes. A thick, awkward silence soon began to form around them once more – and, of course, Jisung was tempted to break it.
"S-So... what are you doing out so late, anyways?" He almost cringed at his question, and turned his gaze to look up at the worn roof hanging off from the side of the closed store. Minho, however, kept his gaze on the cracked concrete beneath his feet.
"I couldn't sleep," he mumbled, and Jisung nodded, grinning, a bit of his tension fading from his shoulders. "Me neither," he laughed slightly, grimacing once he remembered that it was all Felix's fault that he was stuck out in the rain.
"I actually don't like rain," he suddenly piped up, causing the older boy to tilt his head slightly. "Why not?" Jisung hadn't really expected Minho to answer or hold a conversation with him, and he began to scold himself for judging the boy too quickly and never taking the chance to talk to him beforehand.
He shook off his thoughts, reminding himself to be careful regardless; Minho had gone to jail, merely a year beforehand. "It's just so... gloomy," he mumbled, staring up at the barely visible clouds in the dark skies above.
"The clouds obscure the Sun, and everything just seems so dark. And I don't know about you, but the sun represents happiness, and– oh, hehe, I'm rambling. Sorry," he chuckled sheepishly, and barely noticed Minho's slight flinch. The brunet wanted to find his Sun; maybe then the clouds and the rain forever trapped in his mind would clear up.
Maybe when he found his sun, he could feel that happiness that Jisung spoke of.
