JEONGIN BIT HIS LIP AS HE APPROACHED JAEHYUN. HE WAS ALONE, AND THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY he'd gathered the courage to engage in a conversation with the elder male. He'd spent a multitude of hours entrenched deep in his thoughts, and he'd finally come to a reasonable conclusion.
He should have known Jaehyun was trouble the moment he'd first talked to him; no one that attractive and popular would ever talk to me. He'd been tricked into believing that he cared for him, and he lost his only friend as a result.
He still felt the painful bite of shame every time his eyes landed on Minho's form in the cafeteria.
"Can I... can I talk to you?" he questioned tentatively, and Jaehyun raised an eyebrow in his direction, a small frown pulling at his lips. "What did I say about talking to me in school?" he glared, and Jeongin flinched, before he cast his eyes on the ground.
"It'll only take a minute," he mumbled, and with a begrudged sigh, he began walking off, gesturing for the younger to follow him. When they had made it into a hallway that was always seemingly abandoned – Jeongin found it strange, to say the least – he stopped with his arms crossed.
"What is it?" He rolled his eyes, and the younger shuffled nervously, his words catching in his throat, because he was terrified. "W-Well, I, um... I'm... breaking up with you," he whispered, looking anywhere but at Jaehyun.
The elder let out a loud, humourless laugh, and when Jeongin looked back at him, he noticed that his face was settled in the coldest, harshest glare he'd ever adorned. "You're breaking up with me?" He shook his head indignantly, before slowly stalking towards him.
"Without me you're nothing," he growled as he cornered the boy. Jeongin flinched, biting his lip. He's right, just as he was about to back out of his decision, someone else joined the conversation. "Leave him alone, Jaehyun," the said male looked up, and scoffed.
"Stay out of this, Hyunjin. This doesn't concern you," he stated, and the male – Hyunjin, apparently his name was – rolled his eyes with a shake of his head. "Yeah, yeah. If you weren't such an ass, maybe I would stay out of it, but, you know," his own eyes narrowed into a pointed glare.
He slipped in between the two boys and grabbed onto Jeongin's wrist, gently pulling him out of the corner. They left without a word, and when he finally got a good look at Hyunjin's face, his cheeks immediately heated up into a dark crimson shade.
Because, wow, he thought, staring at the handsome male dazedly. "I'm sorry about my brother, he's a bit of jerk," his tone flattened towards the end of his sentence, before he smiled brightly again. "I'm Hyunjin, by the way," he giggled, and Jeongin blushed even more.
"I-I'm Jeongin..." he mumbled, and the older boy looked down at his hand which was still gripping onto the frail boy's wrist, and he abruptly let go, cheeks going red in embarrassment. "Ah! Sorry," he mumbled, sheepishly scratching the back of his neck.
"I-It's okay," he replied, looking away. "Oh! Jisung, hey!" Hyunjin called before waving at Jeongin and rushing over towards the strawberry-blonde boy. He looked up and saw that Seungmin was also there, but once he noticed Hyunjin approaching he waved and left.
His eyes fell on Jisung, and he felt the stabbing sensation of jealousy once more. Why... why is it always you?
A/N: I'm like the queen of short chapters lately oof
Q: Have you ever considered not writing anymore?
A: As ashamed as I am to say (or write, whaTEVER) it, yep. I pretty much stopped writing for practically all of last year, and if I was writing, I don't even remember what I was working on oops. But now that I'm writing again, I've never been more in love with it (seriously, it's a problem. I choose not to study as much as I can because I need to write. Every. Day. :))).)
Lots of love,
~Junnie
