JISUNG CLOSED THE DOOR TO HIS HOUSE AND EXHALED SOFTLY. "JISUNG," HIS MOTHER CALLED, AND he refrained from rolling his eyes as soon as she came to view. "Yes, mother?" He could hear the sass and irritation in his own voice, and could only hope that his mother hadn't caught onto it.
"I want to meet this new friend of yours," she declared, crossing her arms across her chest, and the boy looked down. "He's kinda busy," he mumbled, proceeding to take off his shoes. "It's been over a week, and I want to meet him now." The strawberry-blonde boy could feel the anger directed at Felix slowly veering towards his mother.
"Not everyone is at your beck and call," he groaned, tugging at his hair. "Just leave me alone." He began to walk towards the stairs, before he was abruptly grasped by the wrist and tugged back. "Do not speak to me that way, young man. I am your mother, and you owe me some respect," she hissed, glaring at him, as she slowly let go of him.
He bit his tongue, bowing his head, if anything to conceal the glare decorating his face. As soon as she'd left, he sighed, running a hand through his hair before he continued trudging up the stairs. Once he'd reached his bedroom, he collapsed on his bed, burying his face in his pillow.
His body shook in silent sobs as he clutched his pillow tighter. His phone vibrated, and he looked up through bleary eyes, fumbling around until he found it buried under his blanket. He wiped his eyes for a moment, the caller ID becoming clear before his vision blurred again.
INCOMING CALL FROM: MinMin 💖💕💗💞
ACCEPT DECLINE
He let his phone slip back onto his bed, and nestled down under his blankets, cocooning himself. He decided that maybe he was in desperate need of a nap, and that he'd call Minho back when he'd woken up and chilled out; the last he wanted to do was lash out at him.
His eyes fluttered closed, trying to ignore the fresh tears that continued to pour from behind his closed lids.
~#~#~#~#~#~
Minho sighed, slipping his phone back into his pocket as he kicked around a few pebbles that had rolled into his path. He'd figured that Jisung was upset, and he tried not to dwell on the fact that he'd probably been ignored by his boyfriend.
I'll try again later.
The cool wind caressed his face and ruffled his hair. As it passed, he realized he felt somewhat lighter than he had when he'd left his house. He'd always been afraid of reflecting on himself, because oftentimes his lonely mind would lead to unwanted thoughts, and in turn those thoughts would somehow trick him, torturing him until he felt as though there was no other escape other than pain.
His breathing shallowed, and his shoulders hunched slightly as remorse stabbed at him. He reached his destination, smiling softly when his bridge came into view. It meant many different things to him, that bridge.
He'd first stumbled across it in what was possibly the beginning of the lowest period of his life. It had been peaceful there, and the rushing water below had drowned out his sobs as he sat there, curled in on himself.
The next time he'd found himself at that bridge was the first time he'd attempted to take his own life. That was the day he met Doyun, and finally a little light had been shed on him after waiting so long in the darkness.
And lastly, from that bridge... he could see their tree, just barely visible through the thick shadows of the red and orange sky. He decided that this would be the last time he'd visit the bridge, because where his hope had been extinguished, a new feeling had grown in its place.
He was determined to change his life around – he was determined to not let his pain control him anymore. It was funny, how the one thing he'd dreaded to know was exactly what he'd needed to hear. He couldn't take all the credit for that, though; because now he knew he wasn't alone.
Even when he was with no one's company but his own, he'd never be alone. That tree, visible from that bridge, was a symbol of that. Jisung was just the sun he'd needed to chase away the rain. How ironic. He stopped in the center of the bridge, where just over a year prior, he'd once stood, ready to jump.
He slowly climbed up onto the railing, staring down at the rushing water below. He no longer felt the need to make his pain disappear – because Jisung had removed all of it from him, stowing it away somewhere he'd never be able to find it.
Whether he knew it or not.
He decided that from then on, he'd start trying to build the bridges with Felix he'd burnt down, he'd call Doyun, he'd... try to find it within himself to forgive Chan. And he'd protect Jisung from any harm; no matter what. He stared up at the rapidly darkening sky, and smiled. I promise, I'll try.
"Minho!" Startled, he looked up, twisting around in search of the voice that had called out to him. In his mindless search for the person, he stumbled – and his foot fell over the edge of the bridge. His eyes widened as his body tipped, and all he could register, was that he was falling.
A/N: We're getting near the end boos I'm sed; this chapter honestly required so much thought. I actually sacrificed a scene to be able to have the story flow a certain way (would y'all want bonus "deleted" scenes once I finish this story? That could be fun hMMM) 'cause you gotta do what you gotta do
My writing schedule has deadass evaporated, and I'm just trying to shove it back into place adasldkjasd. Both of my books haven't been updated in a week, whereas I used to update each book every two days -- practically daily in total. What is happening to me?
Q: Where's somewhere you like to go for peace?
A: Well I mean, my room oop-- but, I do like a coffee house or a forest/park.
Lots of love,
~Junnie
P.S: I've discovered that I write the best when I'm not listening to anything other than the ambient sounds of my quiet bedroom and my keyboard as I type. Not only is it satisfying, but it also leaves less room for distractions so yAY
