ANETTE LARSEN was an animal whisperer, despite people calling her crazy. She just knew animals like the back of her hand, everyone knew that. If someone thought their pet was sick, they came to her. And, she always got the right thing without a fault.
She could sense it. It wasn't like in movies where she could hear their thoughts, she just simply sensed whatever the animal was feeling.
And one morning she found a stray dog on her way home from school. Her mother, labeled "mentally unaware," could have cared less. So, Anette brought the dog home and took care of it, she felt like she was obligated to. The dog was scared, she needed to do something.
She didn't expect to wake up the next morning with no bulldog and a teenage boy sleeping on her floor. So, she naturally kicked him in the side and started screaming.
She expected him to be some crazy boy who had snuck into her room like something straight out of a horror movie. But, as soon as the boy woke up dazed and confused, she knew what it was: that boy had the same feeling as the dog.
Anette didn't realize what she had gotten herself into.

→ anette isn't a demigod, or anything. she's just one of those people who defy everything, like a paranormal person, kind of.
→ anette was born in Norway, but at the age of one, she and her family moved to america.
→ her father died in a fatal car crash when she was fourteen. ever since then, her mother has been "mentally unaware" as doctors refer to it.
→ anette, since she was fourteen, has become her own parents. with father gone and her mother partially there, she's become incredibly independent. she has her own job, does everything for herself. she takes her mother wherever she needs to be, and also does everything for her mother.
→ that's a big part of her character. she's constantly worried and stressed, and animals have always been her comfort thing since then. the story should include many parts where she's feeling too overwhelmed with everything (as she should).
→ frank's powers are "glitching". really, it's nothing major, except the fact he's been overworked. he went on multiple reports of monsters, and with the added fact of shifting constantly, he was too overworked, and until he got his energy back, he didn't have the ability to shift back.
→ so, reports of monsters is a headcanon I have for camp jupiter. where they take care of monsters in the area so no one catches glimpses of monsters if they're clear-sighted, and nothing gets wrecked in the process.
→ anette is clear-sighted. frank sends reyna an iris message, and reyna suggests he should do something with anette (no, not get rid of her), because she thinks she might be a legacy, due to her unnatural abilities with animals. which, she's not, but you can never be too careful.
