BAILEY FLORE had nearly gotten married once upon a time. The man wasn't the dream guy she pictured as a kid, but he was perfect for her, they understood each other. On the night before their wedding, he disappeared into thin air, leaving Bailey Flore with a wedding dress, an entire wedding planned in sixteen hours, and a shattered heart.
Nine months later, she was in Mystic Falls, staying with her little sister, Melissa. Bailey barely knew her, they were only half-sisters that met three times in their entire lives. But regardless of Bailey's bad blood with her father, she wasn't going to leave a sixteen-year-old to foster care. That meant that Bailey had to use her savings she planned on using for a theoretical house she and Klaus mused about to pay for both her and her sister's lively hood.
She settled into the life rather abruptly. Still nursing her broken heart, she became a dysfunctional guardian to Melissa. They frequently argued and slammed doors, but that was fine, they still barely knew each other.
As she clocked into her ninth month, a rumbling started to shake the town. The Salvatore brothers rolled in, bringing their typical chaos with them. Bailey wasn't a stranger to supernatural chaos, she'd endured enough as a young woman who happened to be a werewolf, and nearly triple with Klaus' unholy mess. She could handle the Salvatore brothers, they were stupid and looking for various things, but she could handle what they brought.
Trying to protect her sister from a curse she didn't know she had while keeping her own secret was hard enough, but everything became immensely more complicated when a certain near-brother-in-law of hers strolled into town, just as shocked to see her as she was to see him. Then Klaus followed suit, wanting to break what his mother had done to him.
Bailey was just starting to get over how Klaus had vanished into the night. Just starting to get over how he left her with the blueprint to a life they both said they wanted.
And the funny thing was that, even with everything he was doing, Bailey was still clutching that blueprint.

→ bailey and klaus dated for years before they got engaged for one year, and the day they were set to get married, he left because he found out about elena. he did plan to come back, but he realized it would take longer than he thought, and he thought bailey wouldn't want to marry him anymore if she knew what he did. (she did know he was a hybrid, he told her that.) bailey had met all of the siblings, and they all thought she was nice, which is important once they're introduced.
→ bailey was given up as a child and spent her life in foster care, and when she was eighteen, she sought out her parents to figure out who they were. her mother had died years before, but her father was alive, living with his wife and daughter. bailey saw him then, and two times after. the two of them died after an anti-werewolf hunter found her father and killed him and his wife. bailey was asked, as a courtesy, if she'd like to be melissa's guardian, due to the fact that their father had put bailey in his will.
→ their father was a werewolf and the gene carried down to melissa, which is why bailey watches her so carefully with everything going on. melissa is friends with caroline, which got her wrapped up in the mess of elena and the salvatore brothers, and bailey knows melissa's at a high risk of turning. it's up to you whether she does!
→ bailey and klaus still like each other. not necessarily love, but like, all those feelings are still there. eventually bailey finds out why he left and understands, because she knew the man klaus was when she said yes. it's up to you whether they get back together, but they would have a lingering thing & lots of tension!
→ also, it's up to you whether or not it starts in season one or two. season one would add a lot more to the characters and the story, but klaus doesn't come until season two, so either one.
