Cotton

A broken fragment of a strain in time.
I was limp as you squeezed me breathless
and you never had to let got.
I began to fade in your arms when you whispered you loved me.
In every kiss is a warmth that fills the empty spaces between us .
I was soaking in the smell of your distinct cologne.
Your chest rising up with each breath.
I heard your heart beat for me.
The fabric between my fingers.
Cotton as soft as the hair you played with.
The wall against all but the arch of my back,
It chilled my skin...
But you made me shiver, warm....
With each kiss you pressed into my lips.
My eyebrows furrowed with each break as you began to pull away,
Causing my back to arch further
As I pulled you back into me.
I held you there as we parted.
My eyes fluttered up to see your frustration filled face.
Softly you kissed,
But you wanted more.
That was the expression that kept me smiling.
I kissed your cheek
And you couldn't help but smile too.
I began to laugh slightly,
Stopping to look back up at you lovingly.
Your fingers traveled over my face to my lips,
One last kiss.
Then you held me softer,
Until I whispered I loved you.
I began to sink into you,
The heavy blanket felt familiar against my clothes,
And I was gone.
Our legs tangled in the sheets,
My face nuzzled in your neck
And your arm around me.
Night broke,
And we fell asleep to the sound of each others breath.
