Awakening

(D. k.)

In the darkness where I lay,
I heard a strange voice calling my name.
Unrelenting to answer,
It's voice Ignited a spark.
Chains binding my hands,
Moving rapidly by the tug of a greater force.
My body, tumbling recklessly all over the rough concrete surface of the floor.
My skin,
Peeling off rapidly.
Another void attempt to scream,
But voiceless I remained.
From amidst the darkness appeared a shadowy figure.
It's leg stomping hard against my body on the hard concrete floor.
It's mouth, murmuring words I hardly hear.
Brutally beaten, by clenched fists,
And hard kicks,
I could faintly hear it speak now.
"Wake up dead king, for you have slumbered in your darkness enough.
You slumber, while cruds eat off your throne.
Your castle lay barren to the ground.
Your name has been disgracefully rebuked.
Your reputation has been spat on, and your crown broken to pieces.
Rise! dead king,
Rise!
Stand up from your wallow,
And Take back your throne.
Destroy and overtake your enemies that run before you.
Rise from the darkness and take back your throne!
Rise! Oh dead king,
RISE!!"
Staggering, unsteady, weak,
I rise to my bruised sore feet.
Slow breathes,
Weak pulses.
Unable to see,
Slowly moving towards the suddenly shining door.
Hands on the rusty knob.
Strength less, but still pulling the heavy metal door open.
Blinding lights,
piercing my sight.
Squinted eyelids,
Struggling to look around.
Covered in ragged clothes,
Scratches, and blood oozing bruises.
Looking behind, trying to find the door.
Rather a strange artefact laying on the ground.
Behold,
My tombstone covered in thorns.
