Chapter 1 →Aaliyah

Rolling over I rubbed my eyes. I looked over and the clock blinked 6:48 am. It was abnormally quiet in the house and I felt weird. Normally my mother would have already-

"WAKE UP HOEEEE" someone yelled running into my room and jumping on me
"What the-
"It's nearly 7 and you still have dog breath! How" They said

I looked over to see Rayaan, Kekeli and Halie standing at the door and looked down to see Ray sitting on me holding a bottle of champagne with a smile on her face

"Can you not knock!" I asked pushing Ray off and getting out of bed
"Ouch. And no. Because you dear should be ready" Ray said fixing herself
"Why?" I asked going to brush my teeth
"Is this bitch for real?" Rayaan asked
"Cause you're getting married idiot" Halie said

I nearly choked on my toothpaste, spitting it out and rushing to my phone. I checked the date to see that indeed today was the day I would be saying "I do" to the love of my life.

Zion Kuwonu.

"Stop looking at your phone and get ready!" Kekeli said pushing me out of the room

"Little too tight mom" i breathed out making her chuckle.
"Sorry baby" she apologised tying it properly

I wore a beautiful lace gown, it was pure white with lace sleeves and embellishments down them. My mom came behind me looking at me through the mirror, she leaned into me and I did the same, slightly tearing up as she hugged me

"Just yesterday I was changing your diaper, and now today I'm walking you down the isle" she smiled
"Why?" I asked turning to look at her "what did dad say"

My mom sighed looking down, my dad and her had split just after my birth because of his substance abuse. She took me because she didn't want me to be exposed to his hooker loving lifestyle.

"Mom" I said in a stern voice
"He's not coming love" she said quietly

I sighed, looking up and yelling
"Guess I should have expected it" I said
"But I'm here for you Lilibug" I smiled at the childhood nickname, hugging my mom and thanking her for her presence in my life

"Sorry to break this up, but we're gonna be late Liyah" Kekeli said

I smiled before walking out into the living room where all my bridesmaids stood in their shining glory.

Kekeli was my maid of honour. Ray, Charlotte, Rayaan, Halie, Diamond, Tiffany and Alexys were my bridesmaids. They wore maroon dresses and had their hair up and done with their make up on point

"Okay! Let's get you married" Charlotte said clapping her hands

"You can do this Aaliyah" I said to myself as I paced behind the big doors
"You good honey?" My mom asked
"Yeah, I'm ready" I smiled
"Now let's get you married" she smiled back

The familiar wedding jingle rang through the cracks of the door as I took a deep breath, I opened my eyes to the doors being opened signalling the beginning of my walk. Putting one foot before the other I took in my surroundings.

The church was filled to the brim with family and my extended family from Australia and India. Zion's family had also flown in from Africa and all the girls had their families there as well

Zion stood dashing in his suit with the boys standing by his side and the girls stood smiling at me as I approached the alter. My mom handed me over to Zion, patting his shoulder before taking her seat.

"You look stunning" Zion whispered in my ear
"You look dashing" I whispered back

We stood hand in hand, looking into each other's eyes as the priest went on with the ceremony.

"The couple would like to say their own vows" he said stepping away

"Aaliyah Tonkin, when I first met you it was because my boy Ed had recommended you to organise my 21st party. When you walked through those doors it felt as though I was in the presence of an angel. Who knew that 3 years later I would be making you mine forever" Zion said. I sniffed, giggling at his adorable speech before squeezing his hand

"When you first spoke to me you asked me if it hurt when I fell from heaven and instantly I knew you would be an itch I would never be able to shake for the rest of my life. You kept asking and asking me out, until I said yes, thinking it would shake you off but no instead I found myself digging deeper into you, to know you better and then I had to catch myself because I found myself falling for you and right now in this moment. I wouldn't have it anyway else" I sniffed. Zion reassuringly squeezed my hand

"Do you, Zion Kuwonu take Aaliyah Tonkin to have and to hold, through sickness and health til death do you part?" The officiant asked
"I do" Zion cheesed
"Do you Aaliyah Tonkin take Zion Kuwonu to have and to hold in sickness and in health til death do you part?" He asked me
"I do" I said through tears
"Can you marry us already!" Zion groaned with a smile on his face earning a laugh through out the church
"Without further or do, I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride" he said stepping back

Zion swiftly grabbed me, connecting our lips in a kiss that felt like we were the only in the world. I smiled through the kiss now realising that he was mine forever.
