Chapter 6 → Brandon

I woke up to the light of the morning sun shining in my eye making me groan. I made an effort to turn but found my arm had been crushed by something. I looked down to see Ray cuddled into my chest, her big messy hair all over the pillow as soft breaths left her mouth. She had her hand flat on my bare chest as my arms draped her waist.

I made a move to get out of bed as quietly as I could without waking her and made it successfully. I hopped into the shower, lathering the loafer with soap before washing my body and whistling a small tune.

I walked out to see Ray still asleep so I decided to go downstairs. I walked down to see Charlotte on the phone. I walked past her and creeped next to her to hear who she was speaking to

"Yeah mom I'll talk later, I have a code BOS" she said
"Oh okay darling tell Brandon I said hi" she commented
"Will do" Charlotte said before looking at me. Her arms crossed over her chest with a playful smile on her face

"Well morning to you too" I laughed
"Good morning nosy" she smiled
"How'd you sleep" I asked
"Well enough to be up at this time" Charlotte said taking a seat at the marble table "And you?"
"Slept so well, didn't even hear Ray come in or cuddle me" I laughed
"Cuddle you?" Charlotte asked
"Yeah. Woke up to her tiny little arms around me" I said smiling at the image in my head

I walked to the fridge, taking out some eggs and beginning my omelette. I noticed Charlotte had fallen silent so I turned to see her picking her nails, a habit she had that I hated

"You want one?" I asked gesturing to the eggs
"As much as you make some hell of an omelette I'll take a pass" she said getting up

I knew the look she had on her face and I had to confront the issue head on

"Look Char, I don't want you to think I'm disrespecting you in any way or form so I would like to ask if I could pursue more then just a friendship with Ray" I asked nervously
"Sure, I mean Ray is a nice girl, fun loving and gorgeous but don't let the good looks fool you. She's a wolf in sheep's clothing" Charlotte said making me frown
"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked
"Just ask her about Tevin." Charlotte said before disappearing upstairs before I could ask anything else

I walked upstairs to see Ray had already woken up, she sat at the dressing room mirror doing her make up while singing to the tune that played softly on her phone. I slowly approached her careful not to make a noise

"Anything I give you take it, all I knows you've been so patient oh yeah, my love my boy you never break it and I owe it all to you babe" she sang
"You never told me you could sing" I said startling Ray. She clutched onto her chest as she glared at me

"Hasn't your mom taught you not to sneak up on people like that!" She scolded turning to fix her make up
I shrugged "it never came up"

I smiled as she mumbled a curse word at me while glaring at me through the mirror. I set the food down on the bed.

"Where you going all dolled up" I asked
"Oh, Liyah said we're going to the amusement park down the road" she said fixing her bandana
"Oh well I better get ready" I said walking into the bathroom.

I sighed, Charlottes words playing in my mind. If she was right about Ray then I didn't want myself near her but then again she made me so happy. I may have only met her a few months ago but I felt as though she was the one.

I wanted to so badly ask her about Tevin but I decided against it because I didn't want to ruin her day. Maybe I'll ask her tonight.
