Chapter 26
*BAILEES POV*
I try to ignore the sad faces Aaliyah is making when I tell her I'm leaving. It's for the best.
Lord knows what she would think of me if she knew what I've done.
"I'm sorry Aaliyah. You may be able to visit sometime?" I suggest.
"Okay." She says and I wipe the tears from her cheeks.
"Fine. I'm gonna let you in on a little secret okay?." I tell her.
"Yeah!" she smiles and her eyes light up.
"I'm coming back at Christmas." I smile and hug her.
"I love you Bailee." she says.
I laugh, "I love you to Princess."
It's seems like forever since I used that nickname.
"Bye." She says as her voice starts to shake again.
"Goodbye Aaliyah."
I pick up my bags and open her door to see Mr. Mendes.
"Can we talk?" he asks.
"Uhh- yeah, yes sir..." I mumble and follow him into the kitchen.
We sit at the little dining room table.
"Tell me why you're leaving." He says.
"I can't." I blush and hold back the pain squeezing my heart.
"I can respect that," he nods, "for now."
I try to avoid his eyes as I pale from thinking of all of my faults.
"Come here." He stands up, his arms open.
"I'm gonna miss you..." I hug him cause he is the only man I can call a dad. He's the only man that's been there for me.
I can't help the tear that slides down my cheek, I'm not going to see him again for a good while.
I open the door and walk to the car.
Mrs. Mendes gets in the drivers seat and starts the car.
I keep my eyes straight ahead as we drive to the airport.
"Bailee.. what's on your arms?" Mrs. Mendes asks as I shut the door.
I swallow and answer her.
"They're my battle scars." I say as the door shuts.
Time for my flight.
