I was bouncing on the front step as I waited for my uncle to come with some of my cousins and not my aunt. I was anxious and hated waiting, even though I knew that they were close.

"Would you sit down?" Zion asked from where he was leaning against the railing and watching me. "You are making me nervous."

I huffed and walked over to him. "Then stop watching over me," I said, leaning against the railing. I moved a hand through my hair and sighed. "It's not like am a child."

"No, but you could disappear. I know that you want to." He glanced at me before looking forward. "I do need your advice on something if you want to take your mind off of worrying about what your uncle thinks of you," he said, seriously. "If you are up for it."

I stared at him "shocked." "What?" I asked. "Did I hear you correctly? Are you, the great Z-9-15-14, asking me for help? Are you ok?"

Zion scowled and narrowed his eyes at me. "Very funny," he said, coldly, causing me to shrug. He sighed and moved a hand through his brown hair. "I want to go back to the Guardsmen," he said, finally. "I want to become an Alpha Beta," he added, using the nickname we gave for the top group.

"What does your mate have to say about that?" I asked, twisting so that I was looking at him.

"Abigail is supportive of it," he replied. "She knows how much the group meant to me." He shrugged, grimacing. "Pack life had... never been something that I wanted, not after what had happened at my old pack," he said, bitterly.

"Then why did you decide to help with this pack and not have someone else do it?" I asked.

"Because I wanted to be like you," he replied, looking at me. He was serious. "Strong, smart, willing to put yourself last for whatever reason even when you should have placed yourself first." He shrugged his shoulder and looked forward. "That's why Commander placed me with you for training. He knew that I respected you, and you did put up with my shit as well as shoot me down when I became overly cocky."

I was shocked, to be honest. I had no idea what to think as he said that. I had thought Zion hated me not looked up to me for guidance or something. "I thought you hated me," I said, causing him to snort.

"A part of me does," he admitted. "I am mostly jealous of you. Everyone respects and cares about you. They would do anything for you, and I felt like nobody cared about me." He set his jaw, and I could tell that it was hard for him to admit this to me. "But, for some reason, you cared about me. No matter how hard I tried to push you away, you were there. I thought you were stupid." He chuckled, coldly.

I snorted. "What changed your mind?" I asked, causing him to sigh and move a hand through his hair. "About me?"

"That surprise attack and then the Frithen at the safe house," he said, finally. "I thought I was going to die. I had always wanted to die, but at that moment, I didn't. I remember telling you both that I didn't want to die. I didn't think you would listen, but you did."

"But, I did," I confirmed.

"You broke protocol when you saw the Frithen at the safe house and sent me and that other guy away while you stayed behind. You gave your communication device to him as well as the rest of your supplies before giving him directions as to how to keep me alive until help arrived." He looked at me, his eyes filled with this seriousness that I had never seen before. "You almost gave your life for mine even when I had been a dick to you."

I nodded my head, staying silent.

"I wanted to be the best Guardsmen ever, so when Commander asked if I wanted to help you by watching over Xavier, I said yes. I thought he would be your mate, and you would be searching for him. I never expected to be here as long as I did."

"Are you grateful that you did?" I asked, causing him to nod his head.

"I met my beautiful mate and had three beautiful kids, so yes, I am grateful that I stayed." He nudged me. "And, I got to see you fall in love with Xavier and maybe start a family of your own soon."

I shrugged and cleared my throat as my face turned slightly red. "I will talk to Commander for you," I promised. "For now, I do have to ask that you stay here."

Zion nodded his head. "Any reason?" he asked.

I took a deep breath and watched as Parker and Xavier walked out of the house as the sound of a van filled our ears. A smile appeared on my lips when I saw Bryson in his arms and with TJ and Clara trailing behind them.

Xavier looked at Zion and me close together and scowled. He looked rather jealous but didn't say a word as he watched me walk over to him and pecked his lips before kissing my son's cheek.

'Well?' Zion asked, using the earpiece link. He sounded a little impatient because I didn't answer him off the bat and rolled my eyes.

'Parker did something,' I said, turning around until I was facing the road and watched as the van pulled up. 'I don't know what, but I know that whatever he did, he is in a pickle.'

'And?'

'And, I am going to need your help in protecting the pack. I have a bad feeling that whatever he did will affect us all.'
